Briefing note

Specialist Detectives investigating the murder of a 29-year-old man, named as Kalabe Legesse, are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Kalabe was found with a fatal stab wound after police were called at 20:24hrs on Friday, 30 December to Peckham Rye Park and Common, close to the café off Strakers Road.

A post-mortem examination took place on Saturday, 31 December and found the cause of death to be a haemorrhage and a stab wound to the heart.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: "Kalabe's family and friends have been left devastated by his death, which occurred after a brutal and senseless attack when he was simply sitting in the park, minding his own business.

We have been working tirelessly to identify those responsible and are keen to hear from anyone who was in or around the park, particularly in the area near the café and playground, at about 20:00hrs. At this early stage in the investigation we believe we are looking for 2 suspects riding pedal bikes, who fled the scene towards Peckham Rye.”

Any who witnessed the incident, or who has information about what happened, is asked to call 101 with the reference 6165/30DEC.

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

    • Yet another increase, its absolutely disgusting. I was charged £7.95 to send documents recorded delivery last week. I asked for the Signed for option that only costs £2.50 but the Post Office refused & said they would only send them recorded delivery.
    • Thanks Admin for clarifying - I’ve now found the post they used to scrape my telephone number from. So it wasn’t a data breach from EDF, rather my foolishness posting it online 15 years ago…    Still leaving this thread here if that’s ok so that people are aware of this scam and don’t fall foul of it (also to think twice before posting phone numbers here as it can be used by any one as I’ve found out!)
    • There is deliberately nowhere to enter your phone number, name, address etc anywhere when registering an account on this forum. There never has been. There is no way to attach this sort of personal information to your account.  If someone says that EDF has given your phone number, then this is a lie. No personal information is sold to any third party and it is not collected in the first place.
