User name change?

Muffins782

Recommended Posts

Hi Admin

I just had to do a password reset and when I logged in under my usual user name, it wouldn?t work. It seems like a 2 has been added to the end. Now my messages are gone, but my posts under muffins78 are there, but I?m posting as muffins782 now. It?s very strange!!

Thanks :)

That's rather similar to what was reported here https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,1876276, even down to the fact that your muffins78 account still seems live: https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/profile.php?32,1884.

I don't know the outcome of that case; I think the user may have simply opened a new account. But I'd be interested to know what happens if you logout, go to the login page, and try reporting a lost password for muffins78.

OK, understood now. I've just tried, unsuccessfully, to replicate the phenomenon, but end up with the same username with the automated procedure. I wouldn't call your case random, just so-far unexplained.

Is there any possibility that the address you gave was not the one registered with your muffins78 account? If that was the case the system wouldn't have immediately told you it was emailing you a new password. And there's an outside possibility -- I'm not familiar with the system -- that it might then have been forwarded to an admin for possible processing. That, anyway, is the the only reason I can think of for any human intervention that might have changed the username.

Thanks Ianr, much appreciated. I tried to use my work phone just now to log on, deliberately not using these details, but the normal muffins78. Like the first time, an instant email was generated with the username ?2? and a new password.

I think it?s a challenge for admin :) I appreciate you trying to help me.

    • That is clearly not true. I see car drivers breaking the law on an hourly basis - jumping red lights, speeding, not obeying the general rules. Plus they are operating considerably more dangerous machinery and should have a greater responsibility of care to other road uses. You can see who causes the most harm by the stats.
    • Looking for a suit for an 11 year old. Quite specific, white with black thin stripes.  Trying to replicate Michael Jacksons smooth criminal costume.  A blue linen shirt and white tie.    Thank you !!!!!!!
    • A quick Google found this, amongst other things: "Social impact models are frameworks or approaches that guide how organizations or initiatives address social or environmental problems."
    • "If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then it must be a duck" comes to mind Unfortunately, a large number of cyclists do exhibit selfish amd anti social behaviour which, regardless of how many good cyclists there are, is seen as the norm.  It's a bit like one car driver jumping a red light and all car drivers getting tarred by the same brush. Perception is the issue and if cyclists all obeyed the rules, everyone would be less anti them but unfortunately that isn't the case 🤔
