Attaching photos to posts

There are several websites where you can enter a photo and get it immediately reduced to the required size.

Can't remember the names offhand but a quick Google should bring them up.

Alternatively, any photo editing software would be able to do it, I think.

As you say, it's the file size which needs to be reduced, not the dimensions of the photo.

I just used wwww.iloveimg.com which was very quick and easy and automatically compressed my photo to the correct size for the ED Forum without my having to put the required size in.

If you had more than one photo to attach to one post, you would need to use another website though, as the photos would need to be compressed to a smaller size (but you could always attach one photo to each of the following posts)

Cropping can be useful if any of the image is superfluous. Resizing will probably be the your main stratagem. Bearing in mind that even a laptop screen may be only 1200 pixels wide, an image with sides of just a few hundred pixel will usually be adequate.
