Itzel
Am planning on doing a walk with the family this weekend. Will be with a baby/buggy and plan to go to Crystal Palace via Cox's walk, off the Sth Circular. Probably stopping at the Woodhouse or Westow House for food / booze, then back via College Road, into the Village. Planning on doing about 6 miles.....Has anyone done this walk, or one similar, will Cox's walk be suitable for the buggy..........Idea on other pubs to stop in? Other routes? Any tips? Rianoo
I wouldn't take a buggy on Cox's walk. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99174-good-walks/#findComment-977421 Share on other sites

rendelharris
Cox's walk should be fine for a buggy at the moment - was there this morning and it's nice and dry. You might have to lift over a couple of places but generally fine. Just make sure you take the left turn towards Sydenham Hill rather than go through the gate into Sydenham Hill Woods, which would be hard work with a buggy. Itzel
So is Cox's walk a bit bumpy / unmade? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99174-good-walks/#findComment-977457 Share on other sites
rendelharris
It's a smooth gravelled path up to the entrance to Sydenham Hill Woods, where you turn left over the railway bridge and up another reasonable path to Sydenham Hill. Perfectly doable I'd say when it's as dry as now - you can look at each end of the path from Streetview or online. We pass plenty of buggies when we walk that way and nobody seems to be having much trouble. rendelharris
Mind you, the Radio 4 weatherman just said it will be dry today and tomorrow, but from Friday onwards once it starts raining it won't stop, so... Alan Medic
Don't know why you wrote that. It would make a difference on that walk with a buggy if it's dry or muddy. Robert Poste's Child
I think he just meant that weather forecasts can be unreliable. Often taken in myself. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99174-good-walks/#findComment-978332 Share on other sites
Itzel
Just an update, I did the walk and it was great. Only problem we encountered was all of the steps, which meant carrying the buggy. Very nice walk. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/99174-good-walks/#findComment-985536 Share on other sites
