Sorry for such a STUPID question! Despite my love of shopping I've always been scared of ebay. But I like the maclaren butchers stripe buggy that I think was a special edition maybe last year(? anyone got one? Any good? Don't ever see them around really?). And the only place you seem to be able to buy it now is ebay. And there are new ones there and they seem quite cheap - rec price was ?150, going new for about ?100. So I'm suspicious. Anyone an ebay connoisseur and can give me any pointers?

Thanks..

I used to buy/sell quite a lot on Ebay, and have always had good experiences, although I know it's full of dodgy stuff these days.

I've had a look and there are loads of those buggies on there aren't there?! My advice would be to check the seller's feedback carefully, look at what else they've been selling. Chances are they are all genuine and they've somehow got hold of them at low prices. Just be careful that they are actually located in the UK, otherwise you'll get stung for customs charges. I think Paypal offers some extent of protection these days, so you can be relatively confident that you won't lose money if the worst happens.

Agree, was going to say;

Check feedback on the seller. Should be 100% positive, or if any negative go and read it to see the nature of it, if only one or two negative it is usually nothing to worry about.

Look for photos that either look like you or I would take (if private seller), or professional type ones if an ebay 'shop' many of the dodgy sellers use images which you can sort of tell they have copied and pasted off another website if that makes sense??

Pay using Paypal as this gives you protection if it is dodgy - money back etc.

Maybe look at the sellers other listings, this can be reassuring if you can see they are selling a lot of other similar sort of stuff.

Hope this helps, I've bought quite a lot of stuff on Ebay over the years without any problems (touch wood).

So...a new buggy eh? Just as well you've had a bit of a clear out??!!!!!! Will this one fit in the boot? Tee Hee!!!

hehe I hope so!! Just need to get rid of the high chair and I'm there.

Anyone read those chicklit shopaholic books? Am feeling similar like I'm actually making money by selling off things I paid full price for and hardly /never used. Therefore can buy more. Madness....

    • Labour was right not to increase fuel duty - it's not just motorists it affects, but goods transport. Fuel goes up, inflation goes up. Inflation will go up now anyway, and growth will stagnate, because businesses will pass the employee NIC hikes onto customers.  I think farms should be exempt from the 20% IHT. I don't know any rich famers, only ones who work their fingers to the bone. But it's in their blood and taking that, often multi-generation, legacy out of the family is heart-breaking. Many work to such low yields, and yet they'll often still bring a lamb to the vet, even if the fees are more than the lamb's life (or death) is worth. Food security should be made a top priority in this country. And, even tho the tax is only for farms over £1m, that's probably not much when you add it all up. I think every incentive should be given to young people who want to take up the mantle.
