woofmarkthedog
Oh dear...Poor ol' mega corp TOYOTA , seems that 5.2 million cars in Canada & USA are faulty, due for recallYes, "five point two million" is quite alot, we are only in for 180 thousand here in the UK ( pah )The fault is "The cars just wont stop, in fact they accelerate by themselves" & that's a bit scary at + 125 mphStill only 8 million world wide, but I would say that the japanese work fast & I'm sure they'll sort itSome time soon.....I can't help thinking how "Gary Larson" might see it"Is that a Toyota coming up behind us honey"SPLAAAAAT....W**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9860-runaway-toyota/ Share on other sites

Jeremy
Is this the problem with the accelerator getting caught on the foot mat? It's only happened a handful of times - and surely if it happened to you, you'd just stick the car in neutral and pull over... right? Brendan
Or move the foot mat perhaps. Just a thought. No actually on reflection you wouldn't want to go messing with things you don?t understand. You may void the warrantee. Best to just jump out of the car and call somebody qualified. Jeremy
I'm actually thinking of getting a Toyota... do you think I can get a hefty discount if I buy one with a faulty mat? Brendan
Good point. Presumably they?ll have to do something with these 8 million cars. Perhaps sell them in parts of Africa and the Indian subcontinent where there are very few traffic lights so you don?t have to stop that often. woofmarkthedog Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> The fault is "The cars just wont stop, in fact> they accelerate by themselves" & that's a bit> scary at + 125 mphI?ve had a Toyota before. It couldn?t do anything near 125mph. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9860-runaway-toyota/#findComment-293509 Share on other sites

""Yeah it still won't stop, it just gets faster ""Where exactly are you ?""On the highway but I think ill turn off & find somewhere to run the car off the road"That was the last thing they said, apparently the car later crashed off the road Only in America but coming to a road somewhere near you......soonW**F Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9860-runaway-toyota/#findComment-293589 Share on other sites

computedshorty
There was a similar problem with brakes on comercial vehicles, the configuration that existed compromised the use of Air Vacuum to assist the applying of brakes, to hold the vehicle stationary, should the vacuum fail the brakes would release and the vehicle no longer remain stable could move with gravity. The later system with the brake applied untill they are released to allow the vehicle to move. This does have drawbacks as should a failier in the system occur the vehicle will stop.
