crystal7
My daughter has always eaten mashed up weetabix fro breakfast, It was the only time of the day she'd allow us to spoonfeed her. Now she has decided she wants to do it herself but she is a bit hit or miss at loading the spoon and lots of it slides off. Any ideas of breakfasts she can feed herself. She does eat toast but not much. Her weight gain's very slow (2nd centile, HV not very pleased) so I'm looking for ideas as calorific as weetabix and gold top milk! Thanks! kristymac1
How about a fairly well cooked cheese omlette - it makes great finger food, full of protein.... catgirl
shredded wheat bitesized are a good 'finger food' cereal. My 1 year old often has a bowl with some mashed wheetabix and then a few shredded wheat bitesized and does a mixture of messy spoonfeeding and eating with his fingers. Belle
you can get bite sized oatibix - I give them to my son sometimes just briefly dunked in milk (so still solid enough to hold) - seems to go down well. mumra
Not finger food but I find Porridge works well as a first cereal- especially if made to be gloopy as it sticks to the spoon when they scoop it up. EmilyE
Maybe not too much milk in the weetabix (I know it sounds gross, but mine ate it dry for a bit...) with more milk in a cup along sideEggy bread (or French toast as sophisticates like to call it)or toast and smoothie - whizz up banana, plain yoghurt, maybe orange juice and some other fruit for lots of calories in a cup, then it doesn't matter so much if the weetabix ends up on the floor...
