Oooh, the excitement of it all!

Erm...how many times have you been that close to death then?

Thanks for the

It's all part of the Service. PATER NOSTER, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum...

Well to be honest I don't know how to measure it as I might not have known about it a number of times. I once saw a UFO and they could have landed and shot me in an instance. So as you can see it's a difficult one to answer.

While you are here and given the topic recently raised on this thread of it being bad form to out people's true identities. Might you be an Irish priest in reality given your use of Latin?

I was not talking about my Humanist Funeral signature which was cut from my signature first with the rest left alone.

I am now talking about the community spirited stuff such as links to blood donor site, Kings College Hospital site, writing a Will, etc. I make no money from that but it was deleted for me. (Having said that I don't make much money from the Humanist Funerals work and have never got a 'gig' from this site. I certainly could not afford the ?150 I was quoted for 3 months.)

You write, "I think you believe you are fighting some noble fight but I don't see the masses rising up behind you, so it might be worth counting to ten". Could you sound more patronising? Can you read PMs? You certainly can't read my emails. I have been getting a lot of support, and I thank those who take the time to do so, for it.

*adopts an intellectual expression*

Yes, of course - such a thought had not occurred to me.

Let's just say that, as a titled Lady of means with nothing better to do all day, I dabble...wafer and a drop of wine?

You are quite correct...I've been testing the new batch of wine today...my apologies for this minor lapse...

Now, as for your confession...please go ahead...

So you should...the answer is on the EDF Drinks' Thread (The Lounge)...it was of paramount importance that I make an example of you. Now where is your Rosary?

LM/Declan - we've all 'ad a laff but another reminder to keep the thread on topic please? This ain't the Lounge (yet)

PR - if you think you response to my initial post about redirecting the conversation was reasonable and proportionate I can only wonder

Bottom line, of you don't like it then, frankly, fuck off and start your own forum with your own rules.

Plenty of things I'd do differently if I ruled the roost. For a start I'd ban all signatures as they're ugly and they clutter the place. I've always said the EDF's strength is its simplicity. No avatars, no thumbs up or down of comments, no poster ratings etc.

Sigs add clutter and PR was the worst offender, somehow its very worthiness made it even worse as you had to hate yourself for being uncivic minded everytime you had to wade past its elephantine awfulness on-every-bloody-comment.

But then I don't go to the enourmous investment of time, effort and expense to provide the largest possible number of people with a satisfactory, quality, free and effective service do I, as I'm far too lazy and happy for someone else to

do the work, so I'll thank admin for all his effort rather than project my own inadequacies on to him.

I'm not at all. You've assumed I'm meaning someone is/has gone round saying "I'm the administrator... yadda yadda" when what I meant was that those helping to do the admins duties use the account administrator. Would it not be more appropriate to be called something else? Tis all. Didn't wanna make a big deal out of it.

I much prefer the thingy over there next to the thing that does that thing approach to life when it comes to explanations :)

I'm not defensive - I'm just preventing untruths from becoming common currency. I didn't ask you if you thought the account was used by anyone other than admin - you stated baldly and repeatedly that it was. And you did that for a reason presumably? Or do you just write any thought that comes into your head?

You barged into a thread and said "off topic but" and then made a false allegation - When Piers pointed out it wasn't true you tried again and now you are crying about being called on it?

You COULD just say you were wrong and apologise gracefully

hang on a sec... are you picking on me for a particular reason?

What exactly have I said that you believe I deserve such a talking down to AND in such a public manner? How can I apologise for something I have no idea what YOU are talking about?

You make a very bad habit of reading deeper into the things unnecessarily and then pursue in a character assassination, yes I will accuse you of something (as it seems that is what you are wanting).

On many an occassion I can recall when you, SeanMC, have answered an admin q in your own name speaking on behalf of admin. No I don't care to trail through the various posts tracking anything down to prove a point. you have riled me in to response.

If anyone should do any aplogising it should be you. You're not exactly setting a good example to others with your personal attacks as displayed above.

No don't bother responding I'm really not interested.

there is nothing to hide.

Only the admin uses the admin account.

The chair is passed on occasionally, thus far four holders, myself the first and briefest of the four.

There is a family room moderator, it is one person, it is not the admin.

There are moderators and they cajole politely behind the scenes using their own names.

Or so I'm told ... Unless that's what they want you to think.

    • I have been thinking about it and what I have loosely come up with so far are sites and types. Sites Here, Comment is Free, the Independent, the BBC (difficult as their comments section is only ever on trivia), The Telegraph (less so but increasing), The times (rapidly increasing), New Statesman, Spectator (much less so but some increase) even the Daily Mail and UnHerd (perhaps even union platforms, agit-prop and "progressive" platforms, XR, "middle-East", Just Stop Oil, Reddit, Bluesky, Truth Social etc.) I am sure the AI will find more to cross-reference. Types Astro-turfers, single-issue obsessives (frequently overlap with Astro-turfers), floral enforcers, ideologues, political staff, hypocrites, luxury belief pushers, Igors and Renfields. The vast majority are; normal local residents a bit frustrated with something; those looking for a tradesman; or just the friendly saying hello and looking for a bit of community. Spartacus thank you. Although you should probably find something else to more interesting occupy your time; my energy for this is rapidly deflating. It won't disappear and I will get it done (once I work out which AI and which parameters to use) but it might not happen for a while. I saw your comment on the PIP thread; you have to use your single worst day to apply. Being bravely determined not to be defeated (a quality most normal people find admirable and honourable) means your claim can easily be rejected or at least made difficult. "I will get up, I will walk to the shop, I will cook". Those are the tests you have to make clear you only ever fail at. Sorry but its the truth. I wish you good luck with it.
    • Going by tracking information they go via Croydon and East Dulwich (Peckham) sorting offices. Round my way, and I know it varies from street to street, delivery of tracked items brought by the regular postman is mostly reliable. I've noticed if there isn't a postman doing a regular round, there may be a walking postman just delivering the tracked items.
    • Are the parcel services organised by the local sorting office? We always notice parcels delivered by the vans are delivered on time but those that come via the postie can be unpredictable and we often get a "you were not in" when no-one even attempted delivery.
    • Yes, this thread has got weird.
