I would like to recommend Host UK, a charity which matches international students who are studying in the UK with host families for weekend visits or Christmas/Easter visits. My partner and I hosted a student from China over Christmas and had a wonderful time. It was a great opportunity to share British Christmas traditions whilst at the same time learning about Chinese culture. If you are interested, all the information is on their website: http://www.hostuk.org.uk/

To apply to become a host family, you can contact the organisation and they will pass on your details to the regional organiser in London, you then complete an application form and the regional organiser pays you a visit - just to check that the accommodation for the student is as described. We were all signed up within a couple of weeks.

    • Our cat Booboo has been missing since early Sunday morning (09 March).   He's a three-year-old male cat with black fur (short).    He's recognisable from having very big feet - I think about two extra toes on each paw.   He's very nervous of strangers and doesn't go out the front of our house - he mainly hangs out in the back gardens on our block (Goodrich/Barry/Friern Road).   If you spot him please let us know (07771915355).
    • Hello, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with us!  It was a pleasure to work with you and we are happy to read that we succeeded in exceeding your expectations! Thank you once again you have chosen us! Kind regards, Nikolay NN Floor Sanding
    • That's useful, thank you - I've got a Primark near my work. Primark is (perhaps surprisingly) also one of the most diligent when it comes to labour rights in the supply chain, and I have to say the bits I've had from there have been quite good quality and lasted a long time. But otoh it's still fast fashion I suppose.
