What a funny collection of pictures!

Hee hee.

New research has proved that we walk/run better barefoot than with footwear, because we land on the balls of our feet rather than the heel. With this information to hand (or should that be foot?), I feel we can challenge any establishment that bans barefeet under health & safety regulations.

With what KK...the research that we run better in bare feet or the theory that an establishment could be challenged under Health and Safety regulations?

BTW, can't you sleep either?

But at the end of the day, I suppose Tescos are within their right to impose a dress code...it's their store...if we don't like it we can vote with our (bare) feet. It's not as though this is a freedom of dress issue being imposed by a "nanny" state. Night clubs etc. have been imposing dress codes for years.

If you can afford to shop at Waitrose Roll Deep, then your pockets must be quite deep! ;-) I can't afford to shop in Waitrose so this ruling wouldn't apply to the likes of me.

But seriously, what exactly constitutes "tennis shoes" I wonder? Are we talking trainers in general? Oooh so many questions.

*massive burst of laughter*

"...all the other scum"? How do you view patrons of Lidl and - heaven forbid - Netto, pray tell?

*resists urge to laugh further*

I view customers of Aldi and Netto with the contempt they deserve. Lidl deserves more attention.

Yes, in classrooms up and down the country the kid who brings his books to school in a Lidl bag will naturally be on the recieving end of some pretty severe torment i.e - "ha ha, my hoover eats better than you."

However...

Although a trip to Lidl will certainly draw your attention some produce that looks suspiciously like it was flung out the back of an aid flight over Kosovo, and sent back, the booze aisle will throw up some welcome bargains. After the economic downturn I've noticed that off-licences have followed the supermarkets example of passing the financial burden on to the customer. 8 tins of Kronenbourg was ?6 in 2007, it's now ?8. This, in my opinion is unacceptable.

My brother told me of the great deals you can get in the Lidl bbooze dept, and after much speculative assumption as to whether their Scotch is made in Egypt, I decided to tag along. I was right, their Scotch is most probably made from Nile water, but they do sell a really nice beer called Grafenwalder. It's a really nice Pilsner at 4.8% vol that costs 75p a can.

I haven't looked back.

Do you know Dulwichmum? I believe the two of you would get on like pigs in muck.

*falls about laughing at the truth of it*

*reconsiders the possibility of Roll Deep and Dulwichmum rolling around in muck together...hmmmm....perhaps not...*

More erotic than Elaine Carmody shopping in her pyjamas? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1246722/Cover-No-shopping-PJs-barefoot-Tesco-tells-shoppers-supermarket-unveil-dress-code.html

What amuses me the most about this picture is that she bothered to put her earings on!!

I've put her forward to Jeremy Kyle !

Ummm, I don't know. She looks pretty harmless to me...not the type to lash out with fits of head-butting. But there and again, do you suppose those earrings might double up as nifty martial arts weapon?

MMM what's occuring here then, thought I would leave the naughtiness on the streets thread, Brum I think is waiting for me to make an appearance at the park, on my own. LM are you flitting between men again, what happened to your bit of fluff ???

It's dead quiet tonight...only hang-over ridden saddoes like me here...and those who watch programmes like Jeremy Kyle, oh and not forgetting those who forage in Sainsburys and patronise Lidl;-)

I'm taking it easy today...had friends round last night...so feel a bit fragile...

Did you see the you-tube clips above of the pigs? I thought they were funny.

But seriously, do you think that Elaine Carmody was inappropriately dressed? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1246722/Cover-No-shopping-PJs-barefoot-Tesco-tells-shoppers-supermarket-unveil-dress-code.html

Are you serious? They are stripey, that's all! And she's covered up...she's even wearing earrings. I think in this instance Tescos are being a little mean. Never had you down as a prude though...well I'll be...

Mind you, those slippers have seen better days...

Don't you also have a tatoo on your gluteus maximus?

    • Time will tell if H&B are loved or loathed, the footfall they get and generate will determine if they stay or go. That's the nature of businesses, they come and go dependant on usage. Examples are M&S, Poundland Local, Co-op, Superdrug, Mons, the chain restaurant/takeaways, the chain Estate Agents, Toolstation, Screwfix to name a few.  As much as people would like to see Lordship Lane remain a high street of independents, it is becoming clear that due to Landlords hiking rents, some are unable to survive. This leaves empty units which some of the chain brands considering it to be worth a "punt". I'd have thought that businesses operating in shops is a better alternative than a high street with multiple empty units, but what do I know, they are just thoughts on the subject.   Take a look at Croydon and Bromley where what were once thriving high streets are in decline.  I have to say that some of the prices charged by the independents are eye watering, and incomes i'd have thought have to be substantial to afford their prices. Personally I'd love a Lidl to open on what was the site of the Harvester, but I guess that would get shouted down, oh the thought of Lidl in Dulwich. Whatever next.
    • IMO, Sealy, the best nights sleep you'll ever have.
    • I don’t know what the shop was originally next to the big St Christopher’s but if Holland and Barrett are taking it over then surely it’s good to have a choice on Lordship Lane? The Camberwell H&B is always empty but the Brixton branch busy.  I remember when the Marks & Spencer food shop was Iceland? Now the M&S is a very busy store and at the time regenerated the high street!
    • Nor would I have done, but it came up when I googled John Lewis reviews. Do you not trust TrustPilot reviews? Even allowing for the fact that many people only post reviews when they have had poor service, 27% one star reviews is indicative of something wrong, I would say. That's 27% of 76,392 reviews. That's an awful lot of people who don't  think the service they got from John Lewis was even worth two stars, let alone more. Screenshot attached.
