SeanMacGabhann
I'm going to risk Smiths fans displeasure and say Meat is Murder is not great. How can you possibly discount Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisted, Blonde On Blonde (probably his best), Blood On The Tracks, The Basement Tapes and more recently Time Out Of Mind, which is a real corker and an amazing comeback record after all the (granted) years of cak? Roll Deep
The Anfield Rap saw Liverpool F.C's success take a dive in the 1988 F.A cup final. Does that count? mockney piers
How could i forget that FnB. One of th best albums of all time. Mind you, I'm still waiting for album no 3. Elf Power doesn't really fill the void.Which reminds me, Beirut was another one crushed under the weight of expectation. Freewheelin' Bob> Dylan.I'd agree with the "second album hihgpoint" bit....for me it's never been bettered BUT to discount Blonde on Blonde, Nashville Skyline, Blood on the Tracks and maybe Desire seems a tad harsh.Still, can't help myself hating three albums of pseudo Judeo-Christian rock shite.Edit - as Jah has also pointed out. Sandperson
I think me and Sean (of the Dead) are the only people to like Second Coming. I can listen to that album over and over again....after fast forwarding through the over blown intro of coures. mockney piers
Inwasnt taking the pee SP. I do like it, it's not a great album but there's a place in my heart.Though truth be told it's essentially a John Squires tribute album to his favourite artists isn't it, ooh that's the Stones one, hmm Hendrix etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9722-sophomores/page/2/#findComment-289748 Share on other sites

Sandperson
I didn't thinkyou were taking the Pee mockers. I think Tightrope, Ten Storey Love Song, Good Times, How Do You Sleep and Love Spreads are seminal works. I am much derided for that opinion. My wife and I had Tightrope playing before our marriage ceremony. mockney piers
Then there are the bands that imploded under the weight if their egos. ELO and Yes spring to mind. The eighties weren't kind to any of the seventies prog era bands were they (well musically, financially some did well, Phil Collins who must have done some evil pact to create such dire turgid shite and sell 150 million albums!!!!!!!!!) mockney piers
Oooh Jefferson Airplane. Takes off is a bit dull, Surrealistic Pillow surely one of the definitive sixties creations full stop. And then it all turned sour again. Thy should hang their collective heads and apologise to the world for Starship too while they're at it. mockney piers
Well I haven't heard the new one, but I thought they were pretty consistent. I loved mezzanine, but it is darker and less touchy feeling than protection for sure Right, Radiator for the Super Furries, and I'd nominate them for not doing much wrong if you can get past the odd self indulgent weirdness and of course the Welsh!!!
