Rosetta
Does anyone have any ideas? Am sending it to Spain, never packaged or posted one before. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/97039-how-to-package-a-vinyl-lp-for-posting/ Share on other sites
dbboy
When I bought vinyl on mail order it was packaged in a "cardboard sleeve". This was the standard way of sending vinyl through the post system and it worked fine, so that's what I suggest you try. If you are not happy with that then you can do as Amazon do and use the cardboard sleeve method and put that in a box and send it, but it will be more expensive and you'll be paying to send a lot of empty space through the post. Preferred method is the first. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/97039-how-to-package-a-vinyl-lp-for-posting/#findComment-970658 Share on other sites
steveo
Stiff card and a huge sign in English and Spanish saying DO NOT BENDIt reminds me of the tale of the chap receiving a crumpled LP. The package had 'Gramophone Records Do Not Bend' written on it and the postman had written underneath 'Oh yes they do.' Rosetta
Thank you, wonder where to get one? I also thought of a pizza box. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/97039-how-to-package-a-vinyl-lp-for-posting/#findComment-970663 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Cut four large squares out of a sturdy cardboard box (slightly larger than the record). Sandwich the LP with two cardboard squares either side and stick together with parcel tape. Write "fragile" / "do not bend" / etc in large letters. And hope for the best. Rosetta
Thanks for replies. If anyone has a used cardboard sleeve, I could wrap it in plastic. dirac
Being a regular receiver of records in the post, I can't state enough how much better a proper mailer with card stiffeners are compared to some make it yourself ones. Use 'Fragile' tape too, and write all over it that it's not to bent!I have lots of record mailers that you are welcome to and am just off of bellenden road if that's near you? malumbu
I sold a few on e-bay a few years ago and made sleeves up with heavy duty corrigated cardboard from a box, taped up with parcel tape. Worked fine, sent one to Sweden. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/97039-how-to-package-a-vinyl-lp-for-posting/#findComment-971847 Share on other sites
