We visited the One O'Clock Club this afternoon and had a great chat with the staff about the future of the club. They are trying to raise money to rebuild the site and have already secured finance to knock down the hut and to employ an architect. They are, however, in desperate need of help from parents or anyone who wants to help, to source and secure funds for the rebuild. There is a meeting tonight in the cafe next door at 6.30 to discuss. This is very short notice and not an easy time for parents to get away so anyone interested in helping please make yourself known to the staff, they would be very grateful for some help particularly from anyone with experience in writing bids and fundraising.

Hi Mrs P

I've posted a few times on this topic: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,363001

I popped along to the meeting tonight and spoke to a couple of people from the one o'clock club as well as council staff and the architects.

My understanding is that ?200k of funding is secured for the new club and that a bid has been made for another ?200k (via SureStart I think). The result of the bid is still not known but should be very soon. I get the impression that, if successful, this level of funding would then go a long way to getting the new centre but the more money, the better facilities - so great if other funding sources can be exploited by anyone in the know!

I did give my details to one of the Southwark women associated with the One O'Clock club at the meeting in November (I think it was) as I work in a charity and I'm familiar with fundraising but she never got back to me. I should probably chat to the women in the club directly - I guess their interest will be a little more acute!

    • Apart from being yet another eyesore in our lovely park the track is going to be 5 metres wide, that’s wider than my living room! By the time this is installed it will be too late for people to object. This must be rethought, even more of our park is being given over to GALA. The council didn’t factor in HGV access when they planned the flood alleviation works and now they expect park goers to suffer further. Complaints might help, worth a try but needs to be before the consultation ends on Feb 10th
    • It is absolutely real, I walked past the site, complete with car and trashed wall, at about 2pm this afternoon.
    • Oh ok, I'm even more confused now then. Have you seen the discussion on the dangerous driving thread?
    • Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that.  I took the picture about 12:15 today.
