UPDATE.. anybody know 'tobeapoet' on here,as item not returned

Recommended Posts

Hiya everyone,

does anybody know the person, with the 'tobeapoet' ID.here on the forum

they 'borrowed' a drill from me,beginning of Feb

but since I sadly deleted all pms,I don't know what else to do

I lent them a drill & haven't heard anything,to this day

I did send a pm 12.Feb,which is still unread

feeling disappointed

Jenny

btw.

it's the first time ever it happened to me,as I lend tools on a regular basis

any ideas ?

Always ensure that when loaning items to anyone that you take the time and effort to deliver it to their address rather than have them pick up from yours. Then at least you will know where they live when it comes time for the return of the borrowed item.

Jenny pink, it's wonderful that you lend things to strangers, please don't stop doing so! I know it's a horrible feeling to have your trust abused, but one bad experience doesn't outweigh lots of good ones (even though it may feel as if it does, at the time).

In this instance, I think KidKruger is probably right that contacting forum admin is the way to go. Good luck.

By the way, I've always thought that the old adage 'neither a borrower nor a lender be' is only half of a couplet that goes: 'Neither a borrower nor a lender be / Just be a miserable git like me'. Here's to NOT being miserable gits - here's to helping each other out - here's to you, jenny pink!

Hiya...thank you for your suggestions & support....

I had a couple of pms, with links to a 'tobeapoet',which I emailed them on,still hope they will respond....

will give it to the end of the week, then will inform Admin....

NOT loosing faith in this community...thank you very much 'Grok'.....

as for bringing them to peeps, would be impossible,as I'm not driving....however will consider taking a deposit....

by the way....has anyone got an electric drill & drill bits, to donate ....

Do you happen to have a large flat screen TV I could borrow for a couple of days? Also a smart phone, games consol, and a laptop? And btw, would you like to buy a set of encylopedias?

this is a common reaction to grok. grok is an arse.

continue to lend and remember that when Shakespeare wrote about not being a borrower or lender they are not his words but those he wrote for a character he created who was a tedious, meddling, servile, windbag of a man who ends up stabbed for being a nosy obsequious git.

Quite simply it should be a case of once bitten.... However, all of these strangers are advising you to carry on risking your property which is a bit rich as they risk nothing.

Carry on if you so choose as its a 'free' country but when you get mugged off again its probably best not to complain.
