Just wondered if anyone reading this forum has had their gall bladder removed and if they could tell me (perhaps via private message) the honest lowdown on this. I have googled the subject but it seems only people unhappy with the procedure bother to post online about their experience. I am supposed to have this op this week and am wondering if I'm making a mistake and would be better simply to carry on as I am, simply eating a low fat diet.

My best friend had hers removed about six months ago and has had no problems at all - she was relatively young to get the problem (late thirties) and not overweight, etc but had it removed and is as healthy as ever. She's just a bit annoyed as being on the low fat diet before the op meant she lost loads of weight but since the op and gone back to 'normal' eating has gone back to normal weight! but think she's very happy to have had the op. (hers was done at Lewisham hospital)

I suffered so much pain before I had my gallbladder removed. Now that I had it removed,it haven't effect me at all as I've always have a low fat diet anyway. Glad I had it removed, only down side for me was for some reason the doc cut across my stomach rather than a keyhole. Dont regret it though.

Good luck
