Mick Mac
thanks - and to save people having to open the link just to find the name of the restaurant: Trattoria Raffaele: Neighbourhood Italian crowned best restaurant in London by TripAdvisor Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/95567-best-restaurant-in-london-is-just-down-the-road/#findComment-965737 Share on other sites
DulwichFox
Sydenham is not 'Just down the road.' It's the other side of Forest Hill 'Village' Foxy.. Jeremy
I doubt it's even the best Italian in SE London. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/95567-best-restaurant-in-london-is-just-down-the-road/#findComment-965761 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
Its all based on customer satisfaction - and what the customer expected from the restaurant, for the price paid. Top restaurant in London for customer satisfaction I'd call it. Some might be disappointed if on a trip to London from across the world, decided to go out of the way to find this little gem, with the many high end Italian's in central London. Tying in Trip Advisor reviews with what you want/expect is not always easy. But often with Italian restaurants - simple is best - so hats off to it. DulwichFox
How can anyone say best Restaurant... ?Is the Best Italian Restaurant Better that the Best Indian or French Restaurant.. ?I do not particularly like Italian food.. so no matter how good it was, it would Never be My Best Restaurant..That is likely to apply to many people..Bit like saying 'so in so ' is the Best song ever written.. jacks09
Trip advisor collates all of the reviews from everyone......therefore they can position people as rankings.....that way personal taste is accounted for as curry lovers are no less likely to review a restaurant than pizza lovers....It's not a perfect system... Jeremy
I'm sure it is a perfectly good restaurant. And the story is a nice little curiosity. But I take TripAdvisor ratings with a pinch of salt (no pun intended). malumbu
It's a nice place. Glad that it has been recognised. Do I sense a little bit of jealousy from SE22.You have to go to Sydenham or Honor Oak (Querce) for Italian foodForest Hill (Blythe Hill Tavern) or Nunhead (Ivy) for pubs. And all you have is flat pack by design generic bars and eateries, where any character has been airbrushed over.Don't panic, but move fairly quickly. Mick Mac
I don't think we are jealous. We have Si Mangia after all.... they look the same to me. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to go to either tbh.
