Dear All

One of the places where I teach Recorder is a small charity music school near Elephant and Castle.

I have been asked to put on a charity concert given by Recorder Players from the Jonas Foundation Uk music school @ the Elephant, by our Swiss Sponsors, Christine Sigwart Sartorius and her husband Ulrich Sigwart, who is a renowned heart surgeon.

The concert is taking place on Saturday 12th March at 4pm at the Herne Hill Baptist Church, Winterbrook St, very near Herne Hill station, and off half Moon Lane.

Two different Recorder ensembles will be playing most of the music in the concert, including music by HenryVIII, Susato, Gershwin, the Beatles, Bach and more. In between some of the ensemble pieces will be some very small groups playing their grade 1 , 2 or 3 and 5 grade exam music. It will be a lovely concert for any child who learns recorder at their school and their parents might like it too.

The concert has been organised to try and raise some more money for the Jonas Foundation, so the entry price for adults is ?15 and for children it is only ?3. There will also be a cake sale organised by some of the parents where cake will be sold after the concert.

Do let me know if you think you might come with your family or just yourself, so that I can have some idea of numbers.

many thanks to the East Dulwich Forum!

    • yep totally stable   remember when Johnson messed things up and was about to be replaced - were you calling for an election then?   what is the purpose of posting all that Magna Carta bobbins - how is it in any way pertinent in 2024 to a newly elected government - you are just spouting nonsense you read and see on YouTube - you have nothing resembling a case or a point the electorate for example may well change their minds. - and they can express that at the next general election (unlike the debacle that was the Brexit referendum for example)
    • The Clauses of Magna Carta There are 63 clauses in Magna Carta. For the main part, the clauses do not deal with legal principles but instead relate to the regulation of feudal customs and the operation of the justice system. There are clauses on the granting of taxes, towns and trade, the extent and regulation of the royal forest, debt, the Church and the restoration of peace. Only four of the 63 clauses in Magna Carta are still valid today - 1 (part), 13, 39 and 40. Of enduring importance to people appealing to the charter over the last 800 years are the famous clauses 39 and 40: “No free man shall be seized, imprisoned, dispossessed, outlawed, exiled or ruined in any way, nor in any way proceeded against, except by the lawful judgement of his peers and the law of the land. “To no one will we sell, to no one will we deny or delay right or justice.” These clauses remain law today, and provided the basis for important principles in English law developed in the fourteenth through to the seventeenth century, and which were exported to America and other English-speaking countries. Their phrasing, ‘to no one' and ‘no free man' gave these provisions a universal quality that is still applicable today in a way that many of the clauses relating specifically to feudal custom are not.
    • pretty much everything in this post is  why after 14 years the last govt were chucked out - don't you get that?   if you don't want an economic crash you shouldn't have voted for Brexit (and Labour shouldn't be sticking so much to their red lines either)   I'm basically saying everything you say is hypocritical   and again - have a look at the countries where most of those petition signers are coming from- it's not the UK
    • I'd like to examine this too please.  Where can I do so?
