Hi Jane, I'm a qualified worker with visually impaired people, currently adults, but have a lot of experience with kids too. Feel free to PM me for advise or info.

Linden Lodge is indeed a good school, although, I personally am a huge supporter of visually impaired kids going mainstream with support, if there are no other physical or learning disabilities.

Please please avoid Dorton House, which is run by the Royal London Society for the Blind (RLSB). They mean well, but they are so old school, and these days are more multi disability, than Blind specialists. I have worked with so many people that have been there from early ages up to 18, and they come out completely unprepared for life in the real world!

A visually impaired child, with support and equipment, can thrive in mainstream education, and will have a much much better chance of doing well as an adult.

Best wishes.

Keith
