cate
Was wondering how Crystal Palace Rd, Adys Rd., Bellenden and the roads off those are to drive/park on? Quite a wide area I know. I get the feeling that they aren't great. Is it better or worse if you have an automatic? Eileen
I haven't tried driving as they are still slippy, some much worse than others. Managed to walk though without falling. But cars are moving around slowly in the Adys, Nutbrook, Anstey, Fenwick, Nigel Roads area. Peckhamgatecrasher
I found Adys & Bellenden Rd ok to drive on. Roads off (like Ondine and Marsden) are still pretty frozen. Same goes for respective pavements. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9465-which-side-roads-are-ok-to-drive-on/#findComment-283575 Share on other sites
PeckhamRose
It's certainly worse if you have a motorcycle! But busses are working and so are good grippy soles on warm boots.Take care out there! Sanne Panne
Crystal Palace Road looked ok yesterday. Not completely clear but definitely not the ice rink some of the narrower streets are. ironjawcannon
Ivanhoe Road north end, and cul de sac, still very icy and slippy to cross, haven't risked taking car out as returning down Grove Hill Road would be dangerous as it is still iced up on the bottom half. EDKiwi
I'm manging in my little automatic corsa ok, just take it slow, use 2nd gear to take off or just let the car crawl off in drive from a stop so u don't spin the wheeels, not sure I'd be so keen on trying to park on some of the more icy roads though. Landells is pretty much iced over, Crystal Palace isn't too bad. legalbeagle
Roads off Townley towards Dulwich Village are very very slippery indeed. My car refused to stop outside my house and just kept going down the hill! Luckily it agreed to stop before the end of the road but only just! Mamma Mia
Had the same problem. Slid down to bottom and just came to a stop as a family with little ones with sledge were strolling across the road. Phew! Funny how people are much more relaxed about crossing when there is snow on the ground. Cars are going much more slowly but are less in control. AcedOut
I've been fully in control of my car on all roads around ED. I just takes a different driving technique. However, I've been avoiding use of the Vespa until recently, as it's a completely different ball game with 2 wheels!I actually find it great fun when the roads are a little slippy, but it obviously requires greater awareness. It's a good way to increase your skills and understand about how your car handles.
