I found a dead cat on the pavement of our street in Sydenham, with its tail off at the base. The cat was laid centre of the pavement at a 45 degree angle. I put it down to foxes or a dog maybe

This was last year in about September or October I think

I live close to Wells Park

Seabag - please can you tell SNARL about this? Thanks....

I absolutely agree with every word of this.

I thought this had moved on, but as you chipped in, I can only suppose you haven't read the earlier post where mrsilencio gave an otherwise very full description (omitting only IC classification) - that is the weird part - why only leave that one fact out of an otherwise full/decent description which was plainly intended to let us know what that person's appearance was.

Anyway, it's her/his call if he/she wants only to give a partial description - my objection was that the 'argument' advanced to justify it was entirely flawed and illogical. There was actually no need to 'justify' anything with a bogus argument - he/she could simply have said sorry I don't care to do give any more detailed ID description.

No worries - no need for PM. I'm sure we all share the hope the sicko is caught in double quick time. It's likely the publicity will be beneficial - ED must have only a handful (if that) of police officers on patrol at any one time, but if large numbers of the general public are being vigilant when they are out on the streets (or people who know the offender may notice incriminating behaviour), then that must increase the chances of the person responsible being caught.
Surely with the sheer number of incidents the police would be able to find some CCTV footage with the same person popping up again and again. If they actually spent time looking and analysing footage from CCTV cameras near all victims. Especially if criminologists have suggested this sort of crime could potentially progress to "more serious" crimes then surely more should be done by the police to catch them.
They are left in a location which is different to that in which they were taken, so it's not that simple (the police wouldn't have a precise location to check). Also they are not necessarily left where they are to be found at a time close to when they were taken. There's also not that much CCTV in residential streets (not like a main road or high street). I think the best chance of catching him or her must be for someone to be suspicious/see someone they know with gruesome images or remains and to tip off the police, or for a member of the public to see something as its happening or as he/she is planning/hunting for an animal and to dial 999 as requested (not 101).

SNARL says to alert them or the RSPCA,which are now also dealing with this

please stay with the animal until it has been collected....

there have also been reports of foxes & rabbits been victims of these cruel incidents

Cats have been lured with chicken & body parts are usually found at neighbours doors

PLEASE KEEP CATS INSIDE AT NIGHTS

THE LAST ATTEMPT WAS 2 DAYS AGO AT 5.00 IN THE MORNING

    • We found a rucksack on our driveway (looked liked it had been abandoned, possibly after being stolen). Contained a few things including a bible that belongs to Georges. Keen to get it back to him if possible as I doesn't look like it was left intentionally.
    • Hi  We need to replace 3 fence panels in our garden that are damaged and I would like it to blend in with the rest of the fencing. So I am looking for something weathered. If you are taking out some fence panels and looking to dispose of them, please please let me know. I am happy to buy them!  Thanks 07903830384

    • @ ed pete "there still has to be the demand". I don't know but wondering if developers have been able to make a case based on the increase in demand from 2023-2024. The research I looked at said demand had risen by 500 in that period,  but was still below an all time high in 2022.   There will be others who know much more about this area who can give the rationale in favour; perhaps this latest govt. research is incorrect or only gives part of the story. My point is if, as seems likely, this development does little to solve the current housing crisis at local level for the non student population, I hope that the council is very, very sure that this level of student accommodation is warranted at this location. I have not managed to look at the plans in detail but how sustainable are the plans for the build; how will it be heated, what about impact on water and waste services?
