They have also indicated that certain forensic details are intentionally being withheld, so that copycats can be excluded. The recent arrest unfortunately does not seem to be the serial killer, just a random sicko. :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/94082-cat-owners-be-alert/page/16/#findComment-1209659 Share on other sites

JohnL
Just got handed a leaflet at Goose Green from SNARL. Says there has been an attack by the Croydon Cat Killer (referred to as the UK Animal Killer) in the immediate area and to take care with animals. DollyDee
Thank you for posting this JohnL. Did the leaflet give any other details? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/94082-cat-owners-be-alert/page/16/#findComment-1251184 Share on other sites
katanita
I suspect this may refer to the attack a couple of years ago in Silvester Road rather than anything very recent but could be wrong. Whoever it is is still apparently active though, according to SNARL fb posts etc so the advice stands. bloodoranges
I hope it doesn't mean he's in the area - keep a look out everyone. The description was "he is said to be a white man in his 40s with short brown hair, dressed in dark clothing, possibly with acne scarring to his face. It also says he may be wearing a headlamp or carrying a torch." Purple
I walk my dog in the evening when it is dark. My dog seems to notice all cats/foxes on our walk. I am amazed at how many people leave their cats out at night. Not a cat owner myself but have been aware of these hideous attacks for a long time now.For goodness sake please bring in your cats, guinea pigs and rabbits. Don't put them in danger, they are precious and rely on their owners to protect them. James Barber
Interesting article on this in New Scientist this week - says its road traffic cat deaths and THEN foxes -https://www.newscientist.com/article/2173998-prolific-m25-serial-killer-beheading-cats-is-an-old-feline-foe/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/94082-cat-owners-be-alert/page/16/#findComment-1263668 Share on other sites
singalto
James, I have sent you SNARL?s response to the article via FB. Unless cars and foxes have learnt to undo bolted cages, kill their inhabitants and then bolt them shut, you will see that there is a sick person out there doing unmentionable things to people?s pets. Toffee
James Barber please follow the SNARL website. I?m at a loss to understand why you would actually have faith in this New Scientist tosh. Since when have foxes become so intelligent they carry knives with them, have the ability to use those knives and dismember other creatures. Also why the hell would a superhuman fox have the ability to place a dismembered cat/rabbit/guinea pig etc.in a specific arrangement so as to cause distress to its owners. I really hope that I have read your wording wrong. If so, I apologise. If not, I will not be allowed to post my response. rendelharris
Has anyone actually read the New Scientist article (apart from James) - seeing as it requires a subscription (which I don't have)? Have you got a subscription to New Scientist Toffee, and have you read the article? If not why are you shrieking heretic at him and calling the article "tosh" without even knowing what it says? Toffee
I haven?t read the whole article but if you would care to get off your high horse for once and listen to others opinions, you may see that I have referred to SNARL. No I don?t have a subscription to the New Scientist. do you follow the SNARL website? Have you ever heard of how many family pets have been mutilated. By the way, I assume you have read the article in the new scientist word for word otherwise you wouldn?t be posting your usual pompous opinion. Hold on a minute...you say you don?t have a subscription to it, so how the hell do you know it?s content. You just can?t help yourself from putting me down can you? Unlike you, I'm not making assumptions about something I haven't read. I've read SNARL's response but it really isn't a detailed rebuttal at all, it seems to represent the same hysteria that you do that any suggestion there may be an alternative explanation for any of these cases is utter heresy, even though respected organizations such as the RSPCA have suggested the same.As for not being able to help putting you down, no I really can't help it as it's impossible to respond to any of your comments without putting you down as they're mostly ludicrous. I look forward to you calling me out for a fight again like before. Toffee
Just to clarify in general. This is by no means a pop at Rendell Harris. My at is 3 years old. I love him dearly. When I first heard that cats and other animals were being mutilatedin this barbaric why I was mortified. I cannot understand why a human being or beings could bring themselves to do such a thing. There have been many theories over this. But one thingI do know is that the police are very heavily involved in this under the name of operation Takahe. The RSPCA are involved and they too are taking this very seriously. When articles are posted in whatever form. Yes it?s good toreadthem. But I?m sorry,a fox with a knife who has the intelligence to cut another animal precisely, and even remove its inward sand place those inwards on its owners doorstep. Tokilla cat, remove its head. Tail and legs and then place the cats collar on its owners Doorstep. Sorry it?s bad reading.Foxes donotdo this. James Barber
As a cat loving family I can't imagine the pain of losing a cat in such a way.Apologies for not realising the New Scientist article wasn't public. Please see attached. The Professor wiring it has studied foxes for 50 years.
