I could be wrong, but I think Mick Mac is being funny here (as in ha ha ha)...part of his charm you know...bless his little cotton socks

  • 3 weeks later...
I posted a msg about a reports of a wierd woman in peckham rye park allegedly trying to feed poisoned treats to dogs. the posting seems to have been deleted. why is this? as a dog walker on the rye, I can assure you that the dog owners are all really concerned about it. I wanted to know if anyone knew about it. it seems I shall never find out. perhaps a list of prohibitions could be published, as you chucked out an perfectly innocent enquiry about water main works in friern road last week. I am aware of your intensely liberal attitude to knife wielding young people in lordship lane, but a forum is a place for all sorts of thoughts, likes, dislikes and attitudes. if there are to be restrictions based on your hostility to some of us then maybe you should look at yourself.

Erm...puzzled...do you mean this thread?

much anxiety among dog walkers in this park. they have been warned that a strange woman with long grey hair is trying to feed poisoned snacks to the dogs. can't find anyone who has sen her. might be another urban myth like the peckham panther or the surrey puma, but if is true it is really terrifying.

Because it is still there...it is in the Lounge...

The only people to read them are the sender and the recipient, even the email message that says "you have a new private message" does not contain the message (although it does contain the subject line).

I hope that answers your question.

Hello -

Has there been a cull of older messages? I've been trying to track down a couple of tradespeople that I've found on the EDF, at least one of whom I also recommended on the forum a couple of years ago -- have searched my own messages (which end at 2008 for some reason) and also every possible keyword combination -- but no dice. Is this a blip, or have some messages been wiped?

Thanks

Agathoise

The search defaults to 'last 30 days'. Make sure you do 'all time', or whatever it says, on the drop down in the search page. Or you an search for your own messages instead of key words.

It'll be there somewhere. You could even try on google as most of our content is cached on there too.

Hi MP -- and thanks for your response. I have searched for all words, all dates; I have pulled up all of my mss through the search, I've also gone into my own mss through my profile (I used to build search engines so know a little about getting the most out of DBs :-). My own messages cut off the first 25 or so postings I made on the EDF (including the ones I was looking for -- there are only 50-odd messages showingout or 75 that I've posted). No worries -- I've found the phone numbers I needed elsewhere -- but there is definitely a black hole somewhere in the EDF!

Interestingly, the Google cached results don't have what I'm looking for either, so the postings (and the threads they were in) may have been lost a few months ago.

Cheers,

Agathoise

Hi

Last week we had a clean up of the forum database and posts in the wanted section over 6 months old were deleted. The database was 1.4Gb in size and now it's half that and the forum's running quicker.

Google cache does not cache the forum.

Sorry for any inconvenience but we had to loose the old messages.

Hi RosieH

Creating a Tedious Smut Room would only encourage it which is not something we wish to do, we would prefer it to be ignored and have to retreat from the forum, rather like someone with an awkward "I've got Chlamydia" tattoo on their forehead at an orgy.

Dear rosieH

I suspect that the request for a separate room is not a serious one, but your intent is to raise the issue which bothers you into the public domain. As I was the OP for the naughtiness thread, and I know this one in particular bothers you because you've raised it before, I feel I need to respond. First of all, i am against any post that breaks forum rules, is offensive or personal, pornographic, or anything else which may be hurtful or offensive to others. The humour on the naughtiness thread and one or two others (but certainly not the majority) is certainly not to everyones liking and may be distasteful to some. I can relate totally to this as I too find some threads to be tedious and sometimes distasteful. My own response to such threads - and the response of most people I guess - is to simply ignore them, as Admin suggests you do in this case. This forum thrives because of the diversity it's users bring and I think it is much the better for it.

Are you coming to the drinks on Friday? I would like to say hi and I promise I won't be smutty.

    • Aren't most marxists radical by default...and he was a self proclaimed marxist on his twitter feed for years but deleted it as I suspect it did not sit well at Labour HQ. The big worry for Labour might be that he takes votes away from them (but not enough for him to win a seat) especially as there may be a significant protest vote against them at the national level as they are making such a pig's ear of things. I suspect though Labour are glad to see the back of him - to say he was a thorn in their side is an understatement and his loss of the leadership of the council was clearly part of the purge Labour has been embarking on to rid itself of some of the far-left lunatic fringe that have blighted them for so long. The Greens of course are willingly take any disaffected far-left Labour rejects in the same way Reform are hovvering up the lunatic elements of the Tories. The fact he went in with both barrels on Labour is hardly surprisingly but wonderfully hypocritical of someone who thought they were about to lead a Labour council. My how politicians flip-flop to suit their own personal agenda. How long before he falls out with the Greens...where to then? Why do I think he had an affiliation with the Greens before he became a Labour councillor? Or did I imagine that?
    • It’s a shame that that topic is closed/archived for further replies.  It sounds like a great and helpful business. I’d love to see some of the pictures that had been posted.
    • Hello, Do you have an older but still useable laptop for sale? I mainly need one for filling in forms online. Thanks for reading.   M a TT
    • Many of you will recall my previous posts seeking recommendation of local eateries for a family meal. Having vegetarians, those who cannot take dairy products or  are gluten intolerant  we  were looking at a menu which could accommodate everyone's requirements. Having been to Love Dulwich twice in t he past for lunch, we went again and discovered that we could reserve for 10 people (would have been 12 ). I am pleased to say Love Dulwich did not disappoint - a wide choice, beautifully cooked and presented, adults and kids loved the food. We booked for 7 pm and were surprised at the number of people already dining there, with several more coming through the evening. Service was good and coped well with multiple orders. Well recommended.
