faresse
Hi, when I try and post in the for sale section, it just returns to the text screen and nothing actually posts. Can you tell me why? Never had this issue before. Thanks. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/48/#findComment-1135401 Share on other sites
Siduhe
Usually it's because you are using a forbidden word - there are some words that get used in spam posts a lot, which the forum rejects - "bump" I think is banned, for example. Kitchen was a banned word for a while too due to lots of spam. Try rewording your post. bargee99
Hi Admin,I notice that the front page regularly shows thousands of posts as "new" when in fact only a few are. I hope this isn't a problem caused trying to accommodate my request to have a global reset of new posts. I find now that it is easier to reduce the size of the page so that you can see it all on the screen and then click all the reset buttons in turn. If trying to do it in normal size it resets to the top of the page so you can't see the bottom ones and you have to scroll down to every button which then resets it to the top of the page again. Once all new posts are cleared return to normal size. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/48/#findComment-1138872 Share on other sites
Administrator Administrator Posted May 24, 2017 Administrator Share Posted May 24, 2017 Hi'New' refers to unread posts, so unless you're reading 600+ posts a day there will be 000's. And that sounds like the best way to reset all the posts, I would like to find a better way but it's not top priority right now. bargee99
Hi Admin,I was referring to this scenario this morning. I cleared all the new posts yesterday and today it is showing every thread and post ever made as new. Screenshot attached. Does this happen when a PC is rebooted do you happen to know or when any cookies are removed. Thanks for your hard work in keeping the forum going. Administrator Administrator Posted May 26, 2017 Administrator Share Posted May 26, 2017 HiI'm really not sure. Are you definately logged in as the same user? It's set to each user so where you log in from makes no difference, it's who you're logged in as that counts. bargee99
I am logged in as the same user. I only have one account. It's no big deal, just strange. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/48/#findComment-1140281 Share on other sites
SpringTime
Hello Admin! Hope you're well. One of my posts (to The Lounge in the Ariana Grande thread regarding terrorism) appears to have been removed. I can repost my remarks but please advise as to editing/boundaries before I do. Far as I can see I broke no rules. Thanks. Administrator Administrator Posted May 30, 2017 Administrator Share Posted May 30, 2017 HiI've just removed your other post, a bit too nasty I'm afraid. Perhaps tone it down a little bit for this small, community forum so we don't get complaints about racial hatred. ianr
Firefox recently began reminding users of login connections that are insecure, ie those that use http rather than https. The only one I've been told of so far is here: 'form action="http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/login.php"', in the module of the same name. Worth a quick edit? bargee99
Admin, I posted a thread about the disruption to train services tomorrow morning caused by the dreadful attack at London bridge. I would have thought that it was important information for forum users. Why has it been lounged? Administrator Administrator Posted June 4, 2017 Administrator Share Posted June 4, 2017 Is that the one entitled "Tragic Events at London Bridge"? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/48/#findComment-1143033 Share on other sites
Administrator Administrator Posted June 4, 2017 Administrator Share Posted June 4, 2017 I see it is, we assumed it was about the events on London Bridge so moved it. It's best to direct people to the rail websites as their information is updated regularly whereas your post won't be. bargee99
Thanks Admin. I thought it heartless to simply refer to the problems about travel without recognising the horrific event. The reason for the detail was that the National rail website showed very confusing information this afternoon. At least people are now aware of the problems and to check regularly and that London Bridge will not be a walking option for most of the morning rush hour. Alan Medic
Dear Admin, now I'm sure you would clamp down on racist remarks if they were to appear on a thread. Of that I have no doubt. Recently a remark appeared in a thread which frankly appeared to be just that. However, not wanting to jump to an incorrect conclusion I asked the poster to clarify what he meant. He didn't. In fact he stated that I and one other Paddy (my term not his) had a sense of humour bypass. This being a possibility I 'reported' the original post not by means of a complaint, but as a request to you and or the moderators to examine it and advise what I was missing. I didn't receive any reply. This was disappointing as now I don't know if I've been insulted twice or I really don't have a very developed sense of humour.Either way it's a lose lose situation. Administrator Administrator Posted June 30, 2017 Administrator Share Posted June 30, 2017 HiIf a comment is stirring up racial hatred or is exceptionally vindictive etc then we will act appropriatelyIf you are asking us for an opinion about whether a comment someone has made is racist, and you're the recipient of the remark then I would assume it is not. When you report a message you should see a message saying we can't always reply, and we don't as it can be a bit of a pain but we do read them. You haven't been insulted by us, we're just busy. I've just found this Sense of Humour Indicator in my drawer, let's see if works:1 of 2) What's the most common time to visit the dentist? Tooth-hurty.2 of 2) What bees produce milk? BoobiesOne flaw with is is that I can't tell from here what the result is. Alan Medic
Thanks for your reply Admin. Would you describe the following as racist or funny or neither?"If you've ever tried to do a deal with an Irishman over a car, tractor, house, horse or gram of speed, you'll be familiar with all the posturing, bullying, leaving the room, coming back in again, foul language, threats of violence and general wailing and gnashing of teeth with which it is accompanied. What you don't do is quickly agree a price, shake hands and leave the room happy... either of you. There's a very long way to go yet" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/48/#findComment-1151941 Share on other sites
