CPRoadBigLunch
Dear adminMy friends and I are trying to organise a street party on 2 June - we are all volunteers and are putting substantial amounts of our time and effort into doing this. We get no gain of any kind out of it other than a warm glow from helping people to get together. We try to advertise this on EDF so that people know when to turn up. We ask for the loan of gazebos to help keep those people dry. Both of things are essential and we are trying to use the forum as a community resource to help us get the message out to people. You move both threads to bits of the forum which get maybe two and a half hits a week. Why?On the other hand, we could start some kind of artificial argy bargy that incidentally publicises the street party and asks for the loan of gazebos. You'd probably allow us to keep that in the main threads. Doesn't make much sense to me.Could you possibly move our gazebo request at least back to the main drag?thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-645762 Share on other sites
StraferJack
You do know why there is a wanted section and a whats on section don't you?Appreciate you are doing something off your own back but you want something and you are organising something that's on. 136 views for the "gazebo wanted" thread in 2 days is rather different to your "2 and a half hits a week. "The whats on post has nearly 500 views - that is no small amountIf I was admin I would find the tone of your post in here a bit pissy (no matter how much I support what you are doing) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-645929 Share on other sites
CPRoadBigLunch
150-odd views of 'gazebo wanted' by now, but no gazebos on offer - clearly the EDF is not read by people with gazebos. Lost cats, yes, dodgy plumbers, yes, but no gazebos.I am also puzzled. Can you please un-puzzle me. I thought I'd posted this in a section which said 'Ask Admin'. I get a reply from you. Are you Admin? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-646063 Share on other sites
StraferJack
SureAdmin is increasingly busy and if you are waiting for him to answer you could be waiting a long time. I replied because I'm a nosy ex admin assistant an thought your post was pitched in a way unlikely to elicit sympathyI can't help with the lack of local gazebo action but I hope the event goes well (and you get the weather) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-646080 Share on other sites

sidll
Is there a reason why my pretty straight forward posting, as to why Southwark Council issued an enforcement notice for removal of one of the mushrooms in the art festival, was removed from the forum. Are you now subject to censorship by the Council? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-647737 Share on other sites
StraferJack
It hasn't been removed. It has been move tho. To the lounge. Not sure why Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-647738 Share on other sites
KalamityKel
Perhaps because it is not ED specific as you've mentioned Southwark as a whole. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-647874 Share on other sites
StraferJack
it does go on to specify LL mushroom instance tho... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-647922 Share on other sites
simonethebeaver
Two days ago I reported duplicate posts as they used a poster's real name and gave other personal details about him. Neither have been edited or removed. Is EDF policy not to deal with posts like this, as that makes me very wary of using the site. mockney piers
The moderators have recently been inundated with reported posts, we'll do our best to get to them but we're a little short staffed these days.Pm me if you like and I'll deal with them. Administrator Administrator Posted June 18, 2013 Administrator Share Posted June 18, 2013 Sorry it's my fault. I've just changed phones and I thought that the "reported emails hotline" emails were being sent to it, but I hadn't set up the correct account. I'm back on the case now. ianr
Time to reset the server clock? It's been way behind actual time for a while now -- currently by thirteen and a half minutes. Do you not do a regular (auto-)sync with a time server? Any possibility that the CMOS cell is running a bit low and needs replacing? Siduhe
Did your page have an ED trading address listed on it? That's a regular reason that posts get taken down and your phone number suggests the business isn't ED based. binary_star
It's been mentioned a couple of times on the forum now but I haven't noticed a response from Admin so is the new Defamation Act (since it makes specific provision for website operators) going to make any difference around here?http://www.legislation.gov.uk Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-713443 Share on other sites
Administrator Administrator Posted January 23, 2014 Administrator Share Posted January 23, 2014 I've not really looked into it but as long as we act accordingly i.e. take down anything that we are made aware of that is obviously defamatory, and/or comply with the authorities requests as soon as we can, then we should be fine.So no, I don't think it'll make a difference round here. The onus is on the individuals to stay within the law and I don't want them using the forum as a tool to 'anonymously' break the law. binary_star
In the context of certain local businesses being untouchable and others not...? You have to admit there has been somewhat preferential treatment for those who decided to kick up a legal fuss... Administrator Administrator Posted January 24, 2014 Administrator Share Posted January 24, 2014 I wouldn't describe the forum's reaction to legal threats as giving businesses "preferential treatment", but I know what you mean. I shall lift the ban to see the effect. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/40/#findComment-714643 Share on other sites
