Borderlands
HiI've a friend who is trying to register via his laptop (which I gave him) and has tried umpteen names and passwords without success. I then had a go on my current computer using the name he provided (and he typed in his preferred password and confirmation of password). This looked as if it was accepted and he looked on his email (google) to check whether confirmation has arrived - but nothing has appeared. How long does registration normally take? And surely it can't be computer specific - I can log in from my workplace.Advice please. Huguenot
Google has a particularly aggressive spam filter, so it's possible the email is being filtered out.Set up a temporary email account on Yahoo! And see if that works? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/938-ask-admin/page/39/#findComment-609001 Share on other sites

intexasatthe moment
Regarding the Kingsdale thread - the message from Admin about posters details being given to the authorities etc .If it was neither a light hearted /jokey response nor a rather threatening message - why was there talk of the police ?Libel is a civil matter not criminal isn't it ? Administrator Administrator Posted January 31, 2013 Administrator Share Posted January 31, 2013 For your information I have previously been contacted by the police regarding posts on the forum and I get sent a notice by them requesting personal information to be handed over. You may call that a "blip in the usually excellent admin of the forum" (thank you) but I simply call it giving details to the authorities. intexasatthe moment
I'm sure you have been contacted by the police in the past asking for posters details - I find it very interesting that they would contact you over civil matters .Thank you for the reply .Difficult task you have . Administrator Administrator Posted February 2, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 2, 2013 Just to clarify I did say "the authorities" and not "the police". intexasatthe moment
"We keep getting reports from someone apparently from Kingsdale saying posts are libellous. We have collected the details of the posters and will forward on to the authorities when requested so that they can speak to the individuals concerned. I suggest that if you have embellished anything in your posts that could be lies that you quickly go and amend them before teacher comes back with the police. "I think it was the last sentence that ,to my mind ,implied police involvement .But I guess it was meant light heartedly and not intended to be taken seriously . Administrator Administrator Posted February 5, 2013 Administrator Share Posted February 5, 2013 "...quickly go and amend them before teacher comes back with the police." was indeed an attempt at lifting the heaviness of the sentence whilst still having serious undertones (see the previous sentence). Huguenot
I think people have tried to help here a number of times vicki08, although she doesn't respond to any of the advice. You can see an example from me on the bottom of this thread: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?12,1024941I don't have an awful lot of sympathy if she doesn't bother to engage people who are willing to help. He or she has probably moved on to insult somebody else.
