They are not very near anything and have little 'passive surveillance' people using them or walking by them to you and me.

I've been told they were repeatedly wrecked and some years ago Southwark Council decided it couldn't afford to keep them open and constantly repairing the damage or provide a permanent presence to increase security.

Yes but what I was getting at is: Are the staff in the Leisure Centre expected to allow members of the public to use the lavatories in the Leisure Centre as "public toilets"? It seems odd to me that there would be a sign outside the station directing people to some "public tiolets" which are, in fact in a leisure centre and not signposted again apart from outside the station.

Ok - I'm boring myself now...

The first meeting of the sub-group went ahead tonight. Victoria went along to it. A full update can be found here.

Specifically regarding the toilet building, the latest is as follows:

"It was confirmed tonight that Peckham Rye Projects (PRP) have now signed the lease on the building. However, this does not quite mean that the deal is signed, sealed and delivered. PRP are still waiting for the outcome of their bid to the local pot of "cleaner, greener safer" money and still need planning permission to be granted. We've e-mailed Anna at PRP to see if she can give us any further details on PRP latest plans."

    • Agree but not so great for the independently owned cafes shops etc.
    • My husband goes to the newish one near the Watchpolisher on Lordship Lane.(sorry cant remember name-) I can assure you they're not 'fake'  He started going there because his excellent long-term barber had to rent a chair there when the shop he used to work from in Forest Hill closed. I think one needs to be careful when making statements like that above as it can damage reputable buisnesses. Also I should add the Barbers I mention always seems to be busy
    • Hey are these two keys with no keyring? I lost them a while back so not sure if they will be the same!
    • Another glowing review for Julian!! I am now referring to Julian as ‘the legend’. I had spent 5 years waiting until I could afford to get some cupboards built in, and I couldn’t be happier. I am often allergic to overbearing advice when it comes to work I have commissioned and am paying for, but I found Julian’s advice so helpful. He offered his opinion about my plans in a very constructive way, and helped me come up with a much better plan. His ideas were better than mine! Not something I usually like to admit. The work was exemplary, and he cleared up beautifully. He was communicative and a pleasure to deal with. I am so delighted with my cupboards and floating shelves. He doesn’t paint them, but I think that is better, as it’s a specialist job, and it means you can either save money and paint them yourself, or get a painter and decorator to paint them properly. He is a brilliant carpenter. The only problem now is that I have so much more hanging space thanks to his advice, that I may not get rid of all the old clothes I can no longer fit into!  Anyway, highly highly recommended if you need fitted carpentry cupboards or shelves, and want to work with someone who cares about the outcome. Thank you so much Julian!
