PeckhamRose
Yep, and London is coming to a halt. The trains are unable to move and the busses are trapped and those that aren't are not moving out the garages. The wheels of business are skidding as social services and everyone who works for councils are told to stay at home - oh wait - that's tomorrow. Moos
Poor Pickle! We have a small electric heater you can borrow? Call R.It's snowing very lightly here on the Northern edge of the City, just enough to dust the red-tiled roofs of Shoreditch with white. Pickle
Thanks all... have a gas fire, oil filled heater kindly loaned by neighbours and a little fan heater cranked up high, but they're just not cutting it on a day like today.I've been having to boil water (which I'm proud to say I did without having to refer to the thread explaining how to do it) which is a good excuse to have the hob fired up, and it certainly helps to warm up the kitchen.Who's idea was it to live in a draughty Victorian house?! EDKiwi
Well could be worse, could be a draughty weatherboard house in Dunedin. :)Who's stupid idea was it to not have central heating in NZ anyway? Pickle
Ha ha EDKiwi, so true :) I keep trying to remind myself that this is NZ living at it's best - heat the room you're in, freeze your t*ts off in the rest of the house. I managed it for 26 years, I'm obviously a soft Londoner these days! karter
a thorough analysis of snow drops is very important. The result can help determine whether there will be journey delays, can help decide to use snow chains or not, what boots to wear and also whether it's worth trying to get into work. Brum and Brendan seem to be highly qualified in the subject and one of them should email the weather man with the technical analysis. He definitely needs help. Bluerevolution
What is it with this country? I've lived in Dumfriesshire and we muddled through and got with life but an inch of snow in London and it falls apart. Met office has said for last 5 days this was going to happen and what the hell has local government done????????? Grrrrrrrrrrrrr It's taken my missus over 90mins to get Sth Kensington when it normally takes 45 mins, why??? It really does infuriate us Northerners Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/9169-snow-day-will-it-come/page/2/#findComment-277766 Share on other sites
mockney piers
I also noticed this autumn that my trains were delayed due to 'adverse seasonal conditions'. I guessed that noone will ever dare utter 'leaves on the line' again. Weirdly my commute was absolutely fine this morning but there are only about four people in the office. I think people like to use the snow as a bit of an excuse!! Izodia
I was astounded this morning. My train actually arrived early. And then the Jubilee Line was half empty. People travelling from outside London seem to have had more trouble. But from East Dulwich, it was a breeze!
