    • Well, Sue, much of this should really only be answered by a fully qualified pool technician. Online courses are available for about fifty quid. I think they check the pH daily, that's the recommendation. London water is naturally 'hard' and generally has a pH above that of a swimming pool, but it's perfectly fine to drink. Introducing an acid will bring the pH down. I believe hydrochloric acid is the fashion.  Still fancy that daily dip? As regards health issues, skin or eye irritation seem to be the main issues of an imbalance in pH levels. The only pool problem I've ever had was my hair going a bit green after an ill-judged home peroxide job as a teenager.
    • Had a problem with a bathroom fan. Really great service from the electrician who came the next day, bothered to check it thoroughly (hoping to save me buying a new one) before declaring it at the end of its life. He then agreed to pick up the new one before fitting it by the end of the week. So refreshing to find a tradesman who is so helpful, polite and economical! I found my fantastic central heating chap on here (Mark Newlove) so wanted to recommend an outstanding electrician too.  Paul Edgley 07802 627967
    • This is just something that is "being considered"! It could be years before it happens, if it ever does! I'm sure there must be many possible options to replace the services presently provided by Crown offices, including introducing more what are now called "sub" post offices (I think) in existing shops and other places. I'm sure there will be many different interest groups (for want of a better term) trying to make sure that groups of people who are likely to be most affected by the closure of Crown offices will have suitable alternative local  provision. Especially given that presumably the existing Crown Offices are based in the areas where there are (or were) the most people to make use of their services, or were at the time they opened.
    • Just like it was 'in the good old days' eh?
