But to be serious, like y'man I'm struggling to see any point being made.

Oil company gets contract in oil rich client state?

Uh huh.

Err soldiers died for dubious politics? Tick.

None of this is a secret is it.

Far and away the most interesting thing to come out of Iraq was seeing how the US army, after such disastrous start at occupation learned how to win it's war, which involved jaw jaw.

Expect much the same to be true of the latest 'surge' in Afghanistan.

Then we can be wowed by someone pointing out 'BP get gas contract' or somesuch and we can all go 'gosh, I thought it was about democracy'.

Noones fooled anymore though are they.

    • as a retail worker I was once a member of USDAW I found they only have teeth when the majority of employees in a company are members. I remember in a former job I needed their help and found them somewhat flaky and therefore never re-enrolled in my next job. even if a union gets involved with something like working temparature it could take months to get a resolution..and then it'll be spring.
    • This afternoon our bike, a grey Condor, was stolen outside Dulwich library (the big one). If you come across it pls let me know.  There is no CCTV, as Historic England won’t allow them to put up Cameras onto the building and staff told us that it happens almost once a month! So beware of parking any bike there in Future!
    • It's back on now, earlier than forecast,  hooray for the electricity workers out in the cold and dark!
