Walk into Forest Hill PO and get A Text from Apple

Just me? Can't be. As I walked out again I saw the Apple logo on the door.

I remember reading about this whole thing, but I am not an Apple customer and still can not work out how my phone's details were suddenly available to what I assume is the recently acquired technology in the shop, so that the phone was texted by Apple. Not got it on me right now but the text basically said that if I logged on I could pay using that system in that shop; ie Forest Hill Road Post Office. I still use cash!
