open mic nights locally

Are there any open mic nights in ED and surrounding areas? Went up to the Plough on Sunday but their usual acoustic night wasn't on, and they didn't know if it would be back. Looked on internets but couldn't find anything locally, so wondered if there were any that others know about?

The Rose has closed down.

You could try the Joiners Arms in Camberwell on Thursday nights and I'm pretty sure The Old Dispensary on Camberwell New Road has one on Monday nights. Skehans in Nunhead has Hank Dog's Easycome on Wednesday nights. You could try getting in a slot there. Good luck.

We don't run open mics as such, but we do have a Singaround where anybody can come and sing anything they want (although it is mainly folk influenced music, but we don't have strict rules about that!)

However we don't use PA, and we don't use a stage, so if you actually want to perform with a mic and have an audience sitting in rows to watch, it won't be for you. We did have a very full room of people on Sunday though :)

The next one (which will be the last upstairs at The Old Nun's Head) is on Sunday 14 February. After that we will be in the refectory in the Ivy House on the second sunday of every month.

You can find out more here, though the page hasn't been updated to reflect the forthcoming new venue, which we've only just sorted:

It will be reopening at the end of the month as Watson's General Telegraph. Managed by the same company that run The Great Exhibition and The Old Nun's Head.
