Rick the plumber

An avoid at all costs for Rick the plumber from me unless you want to pay him for not fixing problem properly and then have persistent false promises of rearranging to come back and fix the problem.

Rick came to my flat to fix a leaking bathroom sink pipe before Christmas. He replaced the washers in the hot and cold pipes and charged me ?100 for doing so. My tenant returned to the flat after Christmas and informed me that the pipe was leaking again. I contacted Rick to explain that the pipe was leaking last Saturday. He suggested that replacing the flex pipes under the sink would address the leak and that he would only charge me ?40 to fix the problem as he had already tried to fix it. He failed to contact my tenant on the Sunday to arrange to go to the flat.

I then contacted Rick to ask him again to contact my tenant on Monday. He arranged to go to the flat on Tuesday night, but cancelled and rearranged for Thursday night. He then cancelled again on Thursday night. Rather perplexed, I contacted Rick to explain that I wasn't very impressed with him. He was apologetic and we agreed that he would go to the flat between 10 and 11 on Saturday morning. He also said that he had bought the parts and would not charge me for fitting them. He failed to turn up again and gave the pretty feeble excuse of thinking that we had agreed to him going to the flat on Saturday night. He then spoke with my tenant and said that he would go to the flat on Saturday afternoon or that if he couldn't make it he would call to arrange a time for Sunday. Just as before, he failed to do both.

He failed to fix the problem is unreliable and a waste of money. From my experience, avoid at all costs.

Ive had a mare.

Ruined my upstairs carpet with oil falling out of a radiator. His 'mates' yanked up a floorboard and trashed it; left us with a leak in the boiler and has re-arranged 5 times to fix it. I have wasted hours of my life waiting for him to turn up and sort all the damage out - finally, I have given up.

SO SO fed up with him.

To Rickplumb 247 and EDF, my comments have nothing to do with you as the Rick that I have had the misfortune to deal with has definitely not been in the trade for 40 years. I apologise for any confusion that may have been caused.

The Rick that I have dealt with is a a mixed race guy in his late twenties/early thirties who's number (as posted on EDF) is 07721060037 who is plainly a cowboy.

He has offered me refund, but given that he has habitually lied to me, I will be astounded if I actually get my money back.

Rick is a cowboy pretending to be a plumber. All those who have been ripped off by him should post their experiences on the Forum so that others do not suffer the same.

I'm afraid he has also done the same to us. And I live two doors down from his lovely father! Been very hesitant not to put a bad review up - but after months of chasing him up for a refund (which he still has not paid), the job not fixed and ?200 down for replacing a tap - I am happy to never use or recommend him again.

He also never turned up on time or even turned up twice! Felt completely ripped off and exploited :(

I can highly recommend Rick Foster (Rick Plumb 247), he's been trading for many years, extremely experienced. He's fitted radiators for us, included old refurbished ones, and fixed our shower. He is prompt, totally trustworthy and got the job done brilliantly.

His number is 07860633220

I fully agree with all the posts about Rick. Turned up on the bus, with bright white shoes on, asked me to borrow my tools and his mate even offered to look around my house for tools! I felt very uncomfortable with him in my house and he didn't fix the problem. I used a trusted builder site instead and found a superb honest experienced plumber. I vowed never to use any recommendations off edf again, as I has used an electrician off here, I think his name was Mike, who did a shoddy job, disappeared claiming his van had broken down etc. The moral is to ask friends on your street or at work and never trust edf!
Rye Plumbing & Heating Ltd registered at Companies House and his sidekick Dean is listed as director (nothing for Rick). The company website (https://sites.google.com/site/dplumbingandheating/)also has the Gas Safety Register logo on it, but the Gas Safe Register website has no record of this business. I have notified Southwark Council Trading Standards (copying in James Barber). I have also notified the Gas Safety Register.

For those of you have been ripped off by Rick, his real name is Daniel Ebrahimy and he is listed as a former director of Rye Plumbing & Heating Ltd. The details below are the information from the Companies House website on Rye Plumbing & Heating Ltd:

    • I have someone from Which Tech phoning on Monday afternoon. I couldn't get an earlier appointment. I am hoping that now there is a visible display, they will be able to get me online and then  remotely control the laptop and identify what went wrong and whether it is an ongoing fault or, if not, whether it is likely to recur. If they can't, or if they identify a hardware fault,  I will have to grit my teeth and let John Lewis's third party "repair" company take it away and deal with it 😭 I'm very grateful for your advice, but when I saw "Windows will restart automatically" my immediate reaction was to think "but suppose it doesn't" and "suppose the screen goes black again" which I know is very negative but I'd rather someone else was there when I did it, albeit on the end of the phone! Meanwhile, every cloud etc, as I have installed Word on my phone, which I didn't know was possible, and I have been editing and printing documents from there.  I haven't investigated whether I can do the same with Excel, but I will see what happens on Monday.
