Talking about trees, why not ask for some fruit trees to be planted in community spaces instead of the ones that just sit there doing nothing except reducing CO2. I remember scrumping fruit from trees when I was young, and most fruit now is picked way before it's ripe and is no-where near as healthy as it should be. Do you think they'd object incase of possible fruit related injuries tho?
How about green roofs for the tops of bus shelters? I had this idea yonks ago and never did anything about it. I am sure if I were Hugh Whatsisname or Alan Titchmarsh or someone it wojld have been taken up as a one-off idea at the very least, with loads of fanfare and spin. Imagine, all of London's bus shelters topped with turf or even just moss and lichen. It would be lovely. (You heard it here first.) Nero
The game for estate agents would be the SE22 topple during which you stand on a small upturned bucket and your team hand you more and more bags of things (cash) til you become overloaded and fall off your perch. One could understand this as a fable about greed or explanation of the imminent house price crash.

    • The open letter is definitely worth reading to understand how the culture at DC has grown and continued to grow in this way. Article with open letter
    • I have written and complained about the 'consultation'. The notice given was not adequate. Placing the in person consultation in Peckham means that it was not really accessible to many people - e.g.older people, some women and people with some disabilities that might not want to travel some distance to this venue on a cold dark evening. They effectively excluded many local residents. The offer of one online consultation is also not adequate and would not be accessible to people without digital access or who work during the day.  I think that this breaches the council's duties under the Equality Act. I did get a helpful response from Jon Hartley, Dulwich Hill. Sadly he has not been selected to stand in next year's elections. Our other councillor, Maggie Browning, is on maternity leave and there appears to be no cover. I also emailed the Leader and Ellie Reeves. Happy to support an online petition. I assume that it needs to be on the Southwark website.
    • I think a Greggs would be great - I bet it would be really busy, but would need tinted windows to protect the locals from being spotted. It could be ED's dirty little secret.
    • KFC and Mcdonalds are going to split the floorspace. Greggs will have a sausage roll kiosk in the back.
