Talking about trees, why not ask for some fruit trees to be planted in community spaces instead of the ones that just sit there doing nothing except reducing CO2. I remember scrumping fruit from trees when I was young, and most fruit now is picked way before it's ripe and is no-where near as healthy as it should be. Do you think they'd object incase of possible fruit related injuries tho?
How about green roofs for the tops of bus shelters? I had this idea yonks ago and never did anything about it. I am sure if I were Hugh Whatsisname or Alan Titchmarsh or someone it wojld have been taken up as a one-off idea at the very least, with loads of fanfare and spin. Imagine, all of London's bus shelters topped with turf or even just moss and lichen. It would be lovely. (You heard it here first.) Nero
The game for estate agents would be the SE22 topple during which you stand on a small upturned bucket and your team hand you more and more bags of things (cash) til you become overloaded and fall off your perch. One could understand this as a fable about greed or explanation of the imminent house price crash.

    • > Was the penguin there? I like the penguin. I like the way he clacks his beak No, none of the others.  Peregrine was in fact the only one I had time for.  Maybe something about him of a proto-Victor Meldrew, or maybe a hint of Gilbert Harding?  The only other one of whom I remember anything is the iirc rather tiresome Katy the Kangaroo. The Annette Mills WikiP article I found interesting.  If you branch out from there you may eventually get to the 'official site' https://www.muffinthemule.co . Your browser might provide a small frisson if you take the necessary Advanced entry route to the latter, with warnings of possible danger if you proceed further.  In fact apparently nothing more than an expired certificate.
    • Commiserations, hope you feel a lot better soon. Nasty things going around, it seems, it's an absolute pain when you can't do anything.
    • Did you phone the actual noise control number? I posted a screenshot of it above on the thread somewhere. If so, they have given you totally wrong information, unless they have recently changed their policy on firework noise. You could complain to the council directly and/or ask your councillor to take it up with them? I was also disturbed by very loud firework noise earlier tonight, and it's over three weeks since 5 November.  It is really not acceptable. It was still loud through triple glazing in my bedroom. Poor animals.
