stewartessence
Yeah just called the plod and they said because no violence was involved then it is not worth investigation. The PO are not allowed to to show the public CCTV. TheAllSeeingEye
So the police basically admitted it a crime but not a crime worth them looking into, even though a guilty culprit could be found fairly easily via CCTV ?? bizarre.Still, seeing as they are focusing so much on violent crimes I feel re-assured I can walk the streets completely safely now ... yes, sarcasm. Narnia
Interesting point. I'm supposed to have a mobile insured by my bank due to the type of account I have. Looking at the terms and conditions it seems I would have to report it to the police if I lost it. Is that the case with all insurance policies? It would seem like a huge waste of police timefor them to have to take down my details over a bloody phone. TheAllSeeingEye
No insurance in the land will cover "loss" as otherwise people would just lose things on purpose everytime they wanted something new. Narnia
That's a good point. I will re read the T&C's. Mind you how do you square that up with accidental damage insurance? Surely you could do some of that if you wanted something replaced? Miss Tipsy Topple
I've claimed for the loss of my mobile before, you just need to call the police and run through some routine questions to get a crime reference. The insurance company will need the crime reference to process your claim. You can claim on your home insurance as long as you have personal possessions cover. As for cover with your bank account, I have this as well, I've got a feeling that you need to register the phone with them, but I can't be too sure about that.I hope that helps... pablogrande
I am pretty sure that under the data protection act you can ask for copy of any CCTV footage that has you in it so this would be a way of getting around it. I think you have to pay ?10 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8834-who-stole-my-phone/#findComment-269441 Share on other sites
