blainiac
Wood Green is the pits (esp. Wood Green Shopping City which is just vile), followed swiftly by Palmers Green, Bounds Green -basically anywhere with a Green in it - quite fond of Golders though for nostalgia reasons Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-268874 Share on other sites
bignumber5
All the bits of london that aren't really london but pretend to be - Bromley & Sidcup (north kent), Croydon & Sutton (north surrey), whatever the south essex equivalents are etc...And Dalston. Fairly certain there are no actual buildings, just traffic that finally gave up and died. Moos
Shit, I've lived in Dalston and Loughborough Junction, and now I live in Peckham. I appear to be terminally misguided. bignumber5
I'd say Dalston to L.Junct to Peckham shows a course of steady improvement, so pathologically misguided but with a potential for full recovery, rather than terminally... ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-268911 Share on other sites

bignumber5
Reassesment: initial improvements noted, but now plateau'd - will be able to get by, but full recovery now appears unlikely... SeanMacGabhann
daizie - I have friends and relatives down Wallington way. It's ooooohkaaaaay in the "suburb of Croydon down at heels" type of place it is but there is no reason why one whould choose it above anywhere else Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-268931 Share on other sites
daizie
i spent yesterday there sean, old town hall woodcote rd, and there seemed a really pleasant community feel to that part of wallington not down at heel at all, reminded me a bit of stepping back in time, Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-268936 Share on other sites
sophiesofa
My colleague lives in Wallington and I've visited once, it seems to be quite a family place and he likes it and can get the train into town fine on most days. Houses are cheaper too! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-268939 Share on other sites
Brendan
Yeah but (and this was the exact argument my wife used when we were considering moving that way to be closer to her business) just think of how often you would have to go to Croydon. Robert Poste's Child
Since then Peckham has completed its arrival, Forest Hill is now something first-time buyers can only dream of and I'm told Deptford is pretty happening now. Haven't been to see for myself, obviously.I would say that the South Bank is now no longer worth visiting unless you love crowds and eating overpriced food standing up. *Bob*
East Dulwich can now be added to the list, obviously. Everyone knows it peaked in 2010 / 2006 / 1998 (delete as applicable depending on which year you moved here) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8831-places-in-london-not-wort-a-visit/page/4/#findComment-1046015 Share on other sites
