Hello All you lovely Forum people,

I meet Bill and Sarah yesterday; the oweners of the 2 Eco builds in ED, at the Grand Designs Excel London. I had a chat to them about the excitment previously whipped up on this very site. They knew of 'us' and said that they couldn't believe how many of us wanted to go down for a tour.

I have it first hand that they WILL be running a tour of the two houses on Landells Road, just as soon as they get properly settled in and have the rest of their family and friends round!! Yipeee!!!!Just keep this between us lot on the forum because it doesn't extend to the rest of the country!! We should feel very priveledged.

Grand Designs were running a competetion yesterday for someone to WIN a trip round the house, but all ED Forum go-ers will be treated to this regardless of the competition!! more yipee!!

The couple both said that they were very touched by all the nice things said about them and their houses on the forum.

So I guess we watch this space for Talisman to annouce when we can all toop round to have a butchers.

Just don't forget the champagne!!!

(Excuse the over use of exclamation marks!!)

Well I'm disappointed that so many on the forum expressed a wish to have a gander round the two houses....and now no one seems interested?

I understand Keef, I too wouldn't mind a free jaunt to the islands in the Indian Ocean if it was on offer, but this 'prize' was at the Grand Designs expo yesterday, so obviously not a free holiday in sight.

Although a night out on the tiles with Kevin McCloud wouldn't be a bad offer! (sorry Mr MW74!)

dear forumers - we are still building HOUSE B and are also very manic with the media circus so bear with us awhile longer. Nice to meet some of you at the Grand Designs Live Show over the weekend - thanks for your feedback, hope you enjoyed the seminars. We will be making "tour" plans for the EDF shortly (both mine and Sarah's family have still not been invited to visit yet so you can tell how owerwhelmed we are by suppliers, business visitors, photographers, architects, etc!) FYI, we will be putting the second house up for sale v shortly with local estate agents Harvey Wheeler, so watch their window/website for full details, pics, plans and the PRICE. Keep in touch, regards: Talisman

    • We got Leon back to wire in our new oven. He is excellent: responsive, friendly, does a good job, and happy to take small jobs. Highly recommended! +44 7707 925039
    • It’s been closed for several months, I think.
    • I've not posted any restaurant reviews here for a while, but with the long Easter weekend approaching I thought I'd serve an update. I recently reviewed The Palmerston and elsewhere became involved in a debate about the best pub lunch in SE22. So which ones do people here currently rate?  Yes I know people can just do a search for "Best pub lunch" but as well as new eateries popping up all the time two of the places I've reviewed – EDT and Bishop – have had a reboot since I reviewed them so I'm interested in hearing how they are doing now. FYI I'm still not charging people to read my reviews or subscribe (though they can pay if they are inclined) and I still haven't had any cease and desist letters from other food people who have used the word "Eats" in their name. And I put a lot of work into these reviews. They aren't just a couple of dashed off sentences saying what is good/bad. When not doing this for fun I'm a professional journalist. If people want to nitpick and be pedantic I'll just have to learn to live with it. https://eatsdulwich.substack.com/
    • Have there been any happy outcomes yet?  I was reminded of this thread by Kate Bradbury's recent two minute Radio4 Tweet of the Day spot on swifts and swift boxes.  She even plays their calls out of her window hoping to attract them.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0029yp8 Coincidentally, last week I came across a planning condition attached to the permission (24/AP/3592) granted to the old Melbourne Grove GP premises, that they install "no less than four bee bricks."  They're specifically for so-called solitary bees, who seem to be regarded as equally busy and deserving.  Kate B. mentioned that Brighton now attaches a similar condition, requiring swift boxes in all new-builds.  Might Southwark be doing so too?
