It is really useful. I would think that the fact that there is a nursery school on the path would be a leverage point in the event of getting the bureaucratic version of "Ef off, we don't give a monkeys"

Imagine the outcry if another little old lady, mum-to-be - both with toddlers in tow were to be attacked. I think that whoever was in charge of releasing the funds to make it safer would be very uncomfortable if it were to come to light that they had refused.

That said, who do we make the first approach to? I'm none the wiser...

Acid, you make a very good point about the Nursery - there's also Bessemer Grange primary on that route, too. Plus its used by Charter and JAGs pupils.

I have put a request to James Barber, in the "ask the councillor" thread. Maybe there's someone at Southwark who we could email?

I have no option but to walk down Greendale since I collect my daughter from the Greendale nursery 3 times a week. I'm now really concerned about our safety! Apart from in recent weeks when I had been getting a little uneasy about how dark and quiet it can be in the evenings (this is my first winter using the pathway), I had been really happy to do this walk each day. If plenty of people are on the path (and it is really well used in the mornings) then I feel very safe. I'm keen to lend my support to any campaign for better lighting and anything else we can do to make this pathway safter. Also, can we not have some solidarity here - the more people using Greendale, the safer if will be!

This would seem like a prime candidate for the council's "Cleaner, Greener, Safer" funding scheme, however the scheme is operated at Community Council level and the majority of Greendale falls outside of the Dulwich Community Council area - see the red and black line on the attached map which marks the boundary. Once you're over the railway bridge it's Camberbell and suggestions to the CGS scheme are only allowed from people within the Community Council of the area affected. This is somewhat annoying as I suspect a lot of the users and potential users of Greendale are from the Dulwich Community Council area.

If anyone know of someone in the Camberwell area that would be willing to sponser an application then futher details of the application process can be found here.

    • No they were created by a Hong Kong artist and became a craze when a K-Pop girl band became associated with them. They do limited editions and they've become a collectors item (Like Jelicat for adults)- I'm a bit ashamed that at 65 years old I know so much about them but they are very much a fashionable item. And I'm always interested in Popular Culture. Whover lost it must be gutted because I understand that when you buy one (they're boxed) you never know which one or what colour you'll get...so if the owner loved that one it may be very difficult to replace.
    • Are they a hybrid of teletubby and some other species?
    • Thats a Labubu. I suspect it was lost by a trend-following adult who had it hanging from their handbag. They're a real fashion trend at the moment and people collect them. I hate them they give me the creeps!
    • Went there for a drink must have been about 7 or so years ago, lovely building but the bar and the whole place lacked atmosphere, funnily enough just last week we were coming back from a walk in the woods and wanted to go for a drink before heading home, neither of us faniced the Dog and Duck (aka crown and greyhound) so I suggested Belair House but my other half said It'd probably be packed out due to it being Mothering Sunday. Which brings me the fact that on one of the posts here it shows they are advertising for an event on Mothering Sunday for end of May-which is the date its celebrated in Europe and the US I believe...odd. I'm saddened to learn its gone to **** It would be lovely if it was a nice cafe/bar not too fancy but with character.
