Is Goose Green ED's new kerb crawl hotspot? (Tooting Common)

Recommended Posts

A man in a car slowed down and drove along next to me and asked if I was 'doing business' as i walked home on East Dulwich Grove the other night. (to clarify, my attire didn't exactly scream 'lady of the night.')

I told him to F off and he drove off.

I used to live near Bayswater a number of years ago. If you walked around after 11-ish you would get loads of girls in the area calling out 'want to do some business, luv'. I used to just say, 'No thanks' and go on my way.

I never ever thought to say F off.

Hmm, no matter how slowly I drive past goose green I never get any women coming over to speak to me. Maybe Saturday morning with a baby in the back isn't the right modus operandi.

Anyway, a quick check of punternet ought to sort out the ED v Tooting competition.

Might not have been such a good idea to get your username embroidered on your sweatshirt!

I've been propositioned twice now by men in cars - one by hsbc and one at texaco petrol station who was horrible to me(thanks by the way to the other man who checked I was okay after he'd gone, I really appreciated it; the forum was down at the time otherwsie would have posted sooner). May sound trivial but i was quite shaken up afer the second one. and no, i was not all dolled up at either time - was on way back from gym.

It's part of the London Culture, seedy men, propositioning women on the street. Just make sure, if your alone at night, to have your phone always fully charged, keep your house keys round your nuckles, just incase anyone approaches you, you can knock em out.

Oh yea, Tooting is massive for this kind of thing.

Suffering low estime at a fiver, with your length of limb and amusing erudition you should never take less than a ton.

    • Hi everyone, we are trying to finslise our decision for enrolling our son for 3+ from September and currently considering Dulwich Prep or Herne Hill. We like both and appreciate there is no right or wrong answer but what we like about HH is great focus on early years and also being coed. However if we can avoid the 7+ stress then prefer to do that. Dulwich Prep is closer but the difference is not significant. we know children are very active and busy in DP and they have great facilities, but unlike HH, we don’t know much about their focus on personal development and emotional intelligence, etc! Also not sure about long-term impact of being in boys only school. Difficult decision for us and we appreciate feedback from parents if you can share please.    thank you
    • Yeah that was their old policy. Their new policy is to force you to have a water meter and if you refuse they put you on a punitively high tariff which effectively forces you to have one. I was doing well with my policy of polite resistance which was to say yes fine I'll have one fitted but then not actually book an appointment or cancel the appointments they made. But then I was persuaded that it would be much cheaper anyway.
    • Lots of lovely lilac shrubs in flower at the moment. Would anyone consider giving me a cutting? It would involve digging out a basal off shoot, roots and all. I'd love one for my new garden but I'm so broke that I have to fill it with plants the slow way!
    • You are welcome to have mine for free. I was just about to post! Three panels - 6ft by 5ft - weathered/natural on one side and painted brown on the other.
