Jesus, i've heard it all now, some people really do need to actually 'get a life'. Our roads are loaded up with traffic at the best of times and a bunch of people with a poorly thought out attempt at being 'good samaritans' now want to clog the roads even more at key times during the day and cause motoring chaos! I am absolutely horrified! Here's an idea, why not go to your nearest shopping centre and pay a fiver to get a tacky gift for your kid from some strange bearded man pretending to be the coca-cola slash pagan child snatcher 'santa' 'father christmas' whatever you call him, and the rest of us can use the roads we pay good money to drive our cars on!

Oh dear Louisa I am sorry that you have been offended by the Santa's parade, it was organised for the residents of East Dulwich and Dulwich just to say Happy Christmas. If I thought for a moment that having a Santa's parade was going to upset the motorists, then it would never have been organised. Shame on us for wanting to do something for the community.

Monica:

I have to tell you:

(1) I actually don't like Christmas (makes me sad - personal reasons).

(2) As a cyclist I detest traffic.

(3) I do not have children/grandchildren.

But I think that all the hours of dedicated hard work that you put into all your local schemes (SNUB, local composting, vegetable growing for schools, and this one - for example) are to be commended. Personally I think you are an absolute gem and an asset to this community. And, for these reasons I hope that all goes fabulously well on the day (which I am sure it will as you appear to have more supporters than objectors).

Louisa:

You can always get on your bike on the day and go round the back streets! Bah Humbug!

Monica,

You get my thumbs up for this one. I think you are doing a splendid job for the local community. Keep it up. You will always get the odd dissenting voice. To quote a cliche: you can't please all the people all of the time, but you can please most of the people most of the time - which you are doing.

Thank you Sue, I am actually doing a MSc as well, working and organising this with my fellow retailers.

I am looking for a few more teachers to join the parade, we have organised carols for the parade and It would be lovely to have teachers who are use to singing carols.

PM me if you would like to take part.

Trouble with this country. Too many louises being miserable and forgetting how to smile and generally being sour. Good on you monica for adding some Christmas spirit for once! Louise, grab a mince pie cover yourself in tinsel and crack open a smile. You may actually enjoy it once you get out of your car and let doris pass

I believe he's chained and manacled too.

I have another thread going about voting for Christmas carols, I am about to compile the top 5 carols that will be sung in the parade, would love a few more votes though, its in the lounge

Thank you

PC Mick Bell has also promised to join in.:)-D

Now stop it Muley, Lolly is not a troll, she's a valued member of the EDF.

Let me see, how can I put it?

OK, if the EDF was the Father Ted comedy programme, then Father Ted could be Sean Mac, Father Dougal might be me, Mrs Doyle may possibly be Brendan (will you not have a Grand Union burger? Ah you will, go on, go on, go on), but Louisa would definitely be Father Jack, except without the chronic alcoholism and inarticulate ranting.

Now if that doesn't make sense then I don't know what does.

No she isn't. She's simply not.

There, I've said it.

    • I have to wonder who's going to benefit from the Trump tarrifs  Possibly those in tje know who dumped their shares before it happened, banked the cash,  bought shares at rock bottom  and are now waiting for stock that crashed to go up again and make a fortune. But the bigger losers will be Americans who expect industry to move their factories to America, provide jobs and revive the economy, 20 years ago that could have happened but since then most factory jobs can now be done by robots  including warehouse movements, and if a tech company is going to build a new factory they will obviously use robotics and maybe AI to do the work, which means a gluten of goods and no one with the cash to buy them.  America will go into another depression and take the rest of the world with it. Forget the issues Liz Truss and Rachel Reeves combined have caused the economy, the trump tarrifs will make them look like saints by comparison.
