Oh dear Lord sorry Titch - did I send you to Fleet Foxes? I didn't recognise your name and I'd completely forgotten - sorry.

I was just meaning that I love the Roundhouse and I always feel very safe there - unlike Brixton which I honestly think is an accident waiting to happen.

...and the roundhouse holds over 3000 (comparable to standing at brixton)

but yeah, i see your point.

The only time i can ever remember thinking the sound at brixton was awful, was for the beastie boys last year, and that was only the sound sourced from the dj's decks, the live instruments sounded good.

A good measure for me was seeing arcade fire at brixton and the sound being excellent. But after seeing them at ally pally it was never much of a contest!

I was going to say Hammersmith. I've heard the very very worst sound at that venue (Ocean colour scene), but have also heard some good sounds. At Brixton, I've heard some absolutely awful sounds (Pogues the first time I saw them, although they sounded great the following year, Placebo, although that is probably because they're shit).

Thought the Pixies sound was pretty good though to be fair. My main gripe with Brixton is simply that they seem to be selling more standing tickets than ever, and it doesn't actually feel entirely safe, let alone comfortable. Only a few years ago, you could go to a sold out gig, and move quite easily through the crowd.

Big respect to the fact they allow you out to smoke though! That is an amazing plus point, as I've been gagging for a smoke at the last few gigs I've been to!

I've generally found the sound at Brixton to be pretty poor. Some gigs have been good - Primal Scream, Spiritualized and Hole spring to mind. But the worse beyond any doubt was The Smashing Pumpkins back in '93. Bloody awful.

Only been to the revamped Roundhouse a couple of times since it's been done up and the sound quality is so much better. Going to see Echo & The Bunnymen there on Thursday.

Well done Keef - so glad.

Guys this is a gift horse - no booking fees and no postage. This is the Pixies selling direct to fans as cheaply as possible and if Ticketbastard get their hands on these gigs you'll pay a lot more than ?30 a head. Friday standing has now sold out and the rest will quickly follow. Not many people know about the gigs yet. Yes there may be extra dates but don't hang about. Even if there are extras they'll sell quickly. Don't wait.

    • Hello everyone, It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. I am a home-visit hairdresser based in SW London. It's been a long time since I posted on here and I just wanted to update the situation. I remain active and available for haircuts. Some of you know me already. I posted a while back so I just want to re-introduce myself. I have been working as a hairdresser for the past 20 years (I'm 50, I trained at Vidal Sassoon and had a salon of my own, Top To Toe in Morden Jan 2000-Dec 2004) but now I just do freelance cutting hair for clients in their homes. I am available to answer queries if anyone has any? My speciality is cutting - men, women and children. I do have colour expertise so can advise but I do not colour hair at home. Thank you. There may be members of the forum who remember me coming to their home to do their hair in the 1990s! I have used the forum for a long time, as well also the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) newsletters back in the day. I have many clients with babies - it's one of the many reasons that people choose a home hairdresser. I always allow an hour and a half just in case there are interruptions in the haircut so that we are under no pressure. Finally I always make a policy to mention to new clients that I am transgender woman. I transitioned in 2009 and have reached the point when I "look" perfectly acceptable (I think, There is a profile photo which is up-to-date) however I make a point of being open about my history. If you are OK with that then I would be happy to cut your hair at your earliest convenience. My practice is that you do not wash your hair before I see you and I bring all equipment and styling products with me. All you need is shampoo and conditioner. p.s. If you do look at my website, I happen to be an artist and my website reflects that rather than hairdressing. Victoria Cantons
