*Bob*
A couple of tickets to tonight's Pixies gig in Brixton have inadvertently come into a friend's possession. I wouldn't have sought them out, but now the opportunity is upon me..Is going to see one of, like, your favourite bands evuuuuurr - nearly fifteen years after they broke up - invariably a bad idea? NB: Pixies-haters (otherwise known as 'imbeciles', or 'Keef') - can answer the same question but try to imagine some other band in their place whose lead singer sings in tune (yawn) or has a really amazing vocal range or whatever. Jeremy
Go. If you love the band that much, it will probably be disappointing. But at least you can have a few beers with your friend, instead of staying home, changing nappies and watching Come Dine With Me. Brendan
I'm going tonight. I think it will be good but good in a different way that seeing Dinosaur jr last week was who are actually still a recording band that writes new songs. Pixies hater Keef is going tomorrow I think, or the next night. Jah Lush
What Jeremy said. Go. You might regret it if you don't.I'm going to see Echo & The Bunnymen next week at The Roundhouse purely for the fact that I've not seen them before and I like quite a few of their records. I don't think they get quite the same amount of devoted adulation from their fans as the Pixies though - probably because Ian McCullough is a bit of a knob. Fear 'n boozin
Pixie's hater Keef is going tomorrow with me. I guess we'll be spending the evening by the bar then. Edit - They do do more than just sloppy carling don't they? Keef, bring the hip flask! *Bob*
That's a coincidence - my first girlfriend dumped me because 'she wanted to go out with someone who looked more like Ian McCulloch'.Obviously I'm over it now. Keef
That he is. Thanks to a generous donation of tickets. I think I've been harsh saying I hate them, in fact I'm not sure I ever did. Basically I was never in to them, and couldn't have named many of their tunes. From what I have heard, I still stand by my comment that they weren't this amazing special genius band that some make them out to be. Neither were Guns N Roses before anyone says it, but Slash is still my favourite guitarist! Keef
I think what I'm saying is that no band should be rated as highly as some are. I am however going to a pixies gig, you couldn't pay me to sit through the verve, radiohead and some others. Jah Lush
Ian McCullough used to go out with a friend of mine. And to quote her she said "he needs an ASBO on his gob."Enjoy the Pixies. TheePope
*go*saw them at Coachella a few years ago and they were ace, had similar reservations about my fave band 'The Only Ones' but saw them when they reformed and they were marvelous. Though not a pretty sight, not a pretty sight at all. mockney piers
Blimey nicest thing Keef has ever said about the pixies. I'd say go, sod it at best it'll be a great blast from the past, at worst it'll be no worse than you feared it might. Plus you get to have a beer with Brendan, just don't let him steer you towardsthe strong cider, down that path danger lies.
