A couple of tickets to tonight's Pixies gig in Brixton have inadvertently come into a friend's possession. I wouldn't have sought them out, but now the opportunity is upon me..

Is going to see one of, like, your favourite bands evuuuuurr - nearly fifteen years after they broke up - invariably a bad idea?

NB: Pixies-haters (otherwise known as 'imbeciles', or 'Keef') - can answer the same question but try to imagine some other band in their place whose lead singer sings in tune (yawn) or has a really amazing vocal range or whatever.

What Jeremy said. Go. You might regret it if you don't.

I'm going to see Echo & The Bunnymen next week at The Roundhouse purely for the fact that I've not seen them before and I like quite a few of their records. I don't think they get quite the same amount of devoted adulation from their fans as the Pixies though - probably because Ian McCullough is a bit of a knob.

That he is. Thanks to a generous donation of tickets. I think I've been harsh saying I hate them, in fact I'm not sure I ever did. Basically I was never in to them, and couldn't have named many of their tunes. From what I have heard, I still stand by my comment that they weren't this amazing special genius band that some make them out to be. Neither were Guns N Roses before anyone says it, but Slash is still my favourite guitarist!

Blimey nicest thing Keef has ever said about the pixies.

I'd say go, sod it at best it'll be a great blast from the past, at worst it'll be no worse than you feared it might.

Plus you get to have a beer with Brendan, just don't let him steer you towardsthe strong cider, down that path danger lies.
