Loz
Changing what we do because of the attacks is exactly what they want. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/83041-fireworks-after-the-paris-attacks-really/#findComment-926257 Share on other sites
Blah Blah
I agree with Loz. Terrorists want us to be afraid and affected. In reality they are small in number and can never really threaten our way of life. They don't have an army big enough. That doesn't help those who are murdered of course, but containment is the only defence we have at home. Sadly some plots are always going to get through, but in reality more people die in car accidents every year than do from attrocious attacks like those in Paris. We need to keep a sense of perspective and make sure the security services have everything they need to keep us as safe as possible. DulwichFox
Utter nonsense Blah Blah.. Small in number ? 70 years ago 1 man created a machine so vast it resulted in the deaths of millions of men, women and children globally. That was an ideology such as we face today from a different group of extremists. Some of which may well be already amongst us. littlethistle
This is not about you.LAST NIGHT over 100 civilians lost their lives. People have been effected by this event in one way or another, but Of course, some people are just so wrapped up in their own lives that not only does this point go straight over your heads but, of all the ways someone could choose to entertain themselves this evening, it had to be standing in their soggy back garden replicating the sound of gunshots. Many events this evening have cancelled fireworks for this very reason. It's inappropriate. red devil
Every year, a few weeks before and after Bonfire night, fireworks are regularly let off, probably no more than hijinks from youngsters. The people who died in Paris were mainly young adults, out enjoying themselves, I'm sure they wouldn't want people to stop doing that, life has to go on otherwise the terrorists have won... Grok
I think Foxy may have meant a killing machine.I agree with OP, out of respect fireworks should not have been let off but it is individuals choice and so offence shoukd not be taken because others do not share same view.Let the poster that Foxy aimed the comment at take offence if he/she chooses, dont stir the s#+t against Foxy.Far too much 'offence' being banded around willy nilly. 127 people have judt been murdered across the channel, now that is offensive.
