puzzled
bloke tried to rob celestial, the shop on lordship lane, today. he grabbed a posh handbag and legged it.... followed by a girl from behind the counter. she chased the thief down the road and into dulwich grove. by this time a guy from white stuff had joined in, along with two people who jumped out of their cars to help. the terrified robber dropped the bag and fled. vinceayre
Maybe if she had died in the foolish attempt to stop a scumbag the shop could have given her parents the bag, they would certainly have felt a little better then. sophiesofa
There is no mention of a weapon or anything and if no-one else had joined in the chase she would probably have just given up. There probably weren't planning on wrestling him to the ground or anything. dulwichbloke
What a twattish thing to say vinceayre!Presumably anyone who wants to rob or steal from Vince Ayre Bakers in Nunhead can expect to stroll away unchallenged?! Ted Max
Most shop owners/ managers will (or should) tell their employees not to chase shop lifters. Jeremy
I wouldn't say Vince's comment is "twattish"... a bit alarmist maybe, but there is a valid point in there. dulwichbloke
It was twattish. Anyway, in a way the comment was helpful, as I shall be popping round to Vince's Bakery for my tea every afternoon now I know its free/safe. SeanMacGabhann
Surely it is more twattish to suggest that because one knows one CAN steal with ease, one is going to?I'm glad the girl in question is safe, and am even more impressed with her bravery. Whilst shopkeepers are probably well-advised to instruct staff to let potentially dangerous criminals flee, if more individuals reacted as she did there would be fewer criminals willing to risk it. I'll buy her a pint if I see her Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/8219-celestial-girl-hero/#findComment-253793 Share on other sites
Legalhero
Proof that vigilantism works. I don't know if anyone saw her chasing him down, but good lord she is attractive.Vinceayre - you've really embarrassed yourself - you've just admitted that a girl has bigger nuts than you mate (not literally, metaphorically speaking).
