Tsk Keef - you and your Gypsy obsession

There isnt a clique! Just a few people who post more than most - because we live otherwise sad and empty lives.

The Administrator has actually been a member for just 6 weeks - but he is rather assertive.

Come along lovely people. There really isnt a clique.

Just wear a pink bobble hat - thats all.

>:D<

I reckon the Herne was a contender before the New Plough for next Forum drinks - might be better to wait another month for the Plough to settle after it's recent refurb. From the recent postings about the place, they have not yet rid it of it's yobbish crowd - and perhaps Friday nights will still attract them for a while. Having said that, I've popped in there at a quiet time and thought it was impressive.

I witnessed a very amusing scene at lunchtime there today.... (The Plough that is). I might put it in the relevant thread tho

Ed I think you were right about the Herne being nominated but having been in a few times (and thought it fine) it is more in the Franklins/Palmerston ballpark

I just cycled home from the forum drink up, with a funny warm feeling inside me. Thought it was the drink or something I ate at first, but just realised it was that nice feeling u used to get as a kid when someone gave u a sweet or shared their crisps with you. Hehe, thanx guys had a lovely time. A few more months here and I'm gona turn all lovely and fluffy!!

Good to meet you too CWALD - especially now you HAVE a degree ;-)

I think everyone may be a little tender headed this morning so if you are suffering from post-drinks-come-down and why-is-noone-responding-to-my-sweet-post don't get paranoid. It's not you it's the rest of us recovering

Thanks to Jamie and Viv for being great hosts and great to meet all the regs, the semi regs and the first timers. (no Louisa tho!)

And now, to The Quiet Room for some coffee...

See THIS THREAD for a lnk to some photos of last night.

My head hurts more than it should.... Bloody Becks! Nice pub though, and a good crowd.... They just need to get Grolsch behind the bar and we're laughing! :)-D

Missed you last night Jah..... We do those shots another time!

Great evening as ever - good to meet old friends and the first timers!

I sneaked off at about 12 as people were trying to work out where they were go on to - Sorry - I was feeling rather tired. Still, nice kebab - or so my kitchen bin tells me.

Time for shiny breakfast I think.

I've finally emerged. Lovely evening indeed, great to finally catch up with some of the regulars and put faces to names.

Congrats again CWALD, I for one think you're lovely. Scaring posh kids indeed, perish the thought :)

And remember MW, he doesn't *know* he's called Mr MadWorld74, he's probably going to find it a bit odd if you keep introducing him as such ;-)

Can't wait for the plough frankly!!

    • We can't use our kitchen for a while and so looking for an air fryer to plug the gap. Please let me know if you have a good one in working order.  07702 305 310 Thanks
    • The current wave of xenophobia is due to powerful/influential people stirring up hatred.  It;'s what happened in the past, think 1930s Germany.  It seems to be even easier now as so many get their information from social media, whether it is right or wrong.  The media seeking so called balance will bring some nutter on, they don't then bring a nutter on to counteract that. They now seem to turn to Reform at the first opportunity. So your life is 'shite', let;s blame someone else.  Whilst sounding a bit like a Tory, taking some ownership/personal responsibility would be a start.  There are some situations where that may be more challenging, in deindustrialised 'left behind' wasteland we can't all get on our bikes and find work.  But I loathe how it is now popular to blame those of us from relatively modest backgrounds, like me, who did see education and knowledge as a way to self improve. Now we are seen by some as smug liberals......
    • Kwik Fit buggered up an A/C leak diagnosis for me (saying there wasn't one, when there was) and sold a regas. The vehicle had to be taken to an A/C specialist for condensor replacement and a further regas. Not impressed.
    • Yes, these are all good points. I agree with you, that division has led us down dangerous paths in the past. And I deplore any kind of racism (as I think you probably know).  But I feel that a lot of the current wave of xenophobia we're witnessing is actually more about a general malaise and discontent. I know non-white people around here who are surprisingly vocal about immigrants - legal or otherwise. I think this feeling transcends skin colour for a lot of people and isn't as simple as, say, the Jew hatred of the 1930s or the Irish and Black racism that we saw laterally. I think people feel ignored and looked down upon.  What you don't realise, Sephiroth, is that I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying. I just think that looking down on people because of their voting history and opinions is self-defeating. And that's where Labour's getting it wrong and Reform is reaping the rewards.
