yes, true!!

This is just an observation as none of this applies to me but as a frequent user of the 12 bus how come it is full of children going to Heber and Goodrich travelling from well beyond the bottom of Barry Road !

Because the problem is because of a change in demographics - I believe there was a noticable 'baby boom' in the area a few years ago - resulting in this years school intake being so oversubscribed. A friend who is the mother of a 7 year old had no problem getting into her 1st choice school St. John's - even though she lives about 700 meters away. Whereas last year, children over 200 meters away couldn't get in. So you will be seeing children who are older than reception age (and who possibliy also have siblings at the school or who got in on a church place) travelling further to those schools.
Heber used to be very unpopular. Many families with older children, and also little ones now in the lower years, live quite some dustance from the school and always have. Other families have moved since their small ones joined the school. I think accusations of fraud are rather unfounded. You need proof of address, being on the electoral roll, child benefit and utility bills to apply, after all.
