Excellent independent damp surveyor

I used Keith Gardener when I first bought my place a few years ago, so there's a more comprehensive rec. on here somewhere from then. The house had damp in about 5 different areas. Anyway, what he does is look at the problem and work out what's causing it and the best way to deal with it. A lot of it turned out to be handyman stuff that I hired someone to do for a very reasonable cost- re-rendering an external wall where cracks were letting damp in, repositioning poorly placed coping stones that were allowing rain to drip directly down walls etc. I think Keith really is an expert at getting to the bottom of things.

I called him again a few weeks ago because damp had come back in a room that he'd investigated back then and I'd sorted out. I didn't know whether to invest in a very expensive dehumidifier, re-render the wall or what. When he came round he saw that the wall vent had been closed, my previous tenant must have closed it, and that was what was causing it. I couldn't believe it could be someth?ng so simple but I've checked with the new tenant (she'd complained damp air was making her magazines ripple and the room just felt damp) and she says it seems to have worked.

Professional, and very nice bloke also, genuinely helpful.

He has a website, though it's not a very good one (sorry Keith), so I recommend email: [email protected], though the website is www.independentspecialistsurveys.co.uk

    • Thanks to the EDF recommendations, we got in touch with John Marx to install our kitchen. Email: John and Gabi: [email protected] We couldn't be happier with the work done by John. From the initial meeting to the finishing touches, John was fantastic.  He listened carefully to what we wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and provided a clear quote. Throughout the entire process, John was incredibly hard working. He was punctual, and always kept the work area as tidy as possible, which we really appreciated.  What impressed us most was his ability to solve problems.  As with any project, a few unexpected issues arose, but John tackled each one with a calm and practical approach, always explaining the options and finding the best solution. We would recommend his plumber too. The end result is a beautiful, functional kitchen that we love.  I highly recommend John for any building or kitchen fitting project. You won't be disappointed.
    • Thanks! Yeah thought it would be a long shot lol but you never know! I bought a Pioneer FLX-4 last year and absolutely love it, but now really want to kick it up a gear with something stand alone rather than having the laptop in the mix. Been doing some parties etc and playing on some bigger gear and it's even more fun! Do you DJ as well?
    • A big ask, I know! If anyone has Lego they are happy to donate, it would be very, very appreciated. This is for secondary school therapy sessions. We have a budget but it's small and Lego is expensive. We already provide games, food, toiletries only partly covered by our budget (I'm sure you know what it's like) but we have a child who has specifically asked for lego. This would be for use in therapy sessions - not for playtimes or to take home.  Thankyou
    • Good luck, don't think you would find anyone selling controllers on here 🤣 What controller you using atm?
