Also depends if Lewisham are changing their distance criteria - I know that for 2010 admissions Southwark are measuring distance from school to home 'as the crow flies', i.e. shortest direct route, rather than going by 'safe walking route' as they have done previously - this may work in your favour?

Curly - I thought the same about the borough/distance thing. But looking at the admissions book from Southwark today, some schools (ie, Goodrich) have criteria that states something along the lines of 1) Children living closest to the school who live in Southwark, then 2) Children living closest to the school who live in other boroughs.

That said, visited Horniman this morning and the head there said they make no distinction on the borough, just the distance. So worth checking with the individual schools.

You're misunderstanding, I'm sure.

iv) Children for whom it is their nearest Southwark community school measured by straight line

route from home to main school gate

Whether or not you live in Southwark cannot be a factor, this was ruled illegal some years ago.

"4.children for whom it is the nearest community school (priority within this category will normally be given to those living nearest to the school but other children living further away may have to be given preference if they cannot reasonably be offered an alternative school).

5.if, after these criteria have been taken into account, there are still more applicants than places remaining, priority will be given to those living nearest to the school."

    • Does anyone have an update? They were supposed to be finished by January. There is still fencing everywhere and a huge puddle/pond in the south west corner. No sign of a “bund” either. Nothing on Southwark website.
    • I highly recommend Aria from A.F.E plumbing   Personable, knowledgeable and very efficient. Quotes for the job and completes the job Within the quoted amount.  Tel 07739 734895

    • My experience is that my local letter box does have week-day-ly collections - but I think very early in the morning, not at the old 'around 5.00pm' times. There are several daily collections from the box outside the Forest Hill Road sub-post office. I don't think the 'Monday' tab is now ever changed. Mail collections from boxes have got nothing to do with the service we (don't) get from the Peckham Delivery Office. Your Wednesday 12th posting would probably only have been collected on Thursday 13th, if it was posted after 9.00am. If it was being delivered in East Dulwich (where the Peckham DO does come into play) then getting it by the following Tuesday is probably par for the course.
