Lat wekend I saw a Police van in Ninhead and stop some youths whilst playing the theme tune from the Bill.

I thought this showed a refeshing sense of humour from the boys in blue.

Perhaps a leeson for us all an how a lighter touch can sometimes diffuse tense situations....

Yes its actually a bit of both, alot of people are still unsure of the role of SNT's and where their local team are. We will be reviewing this thread as regularly as we can shifts allowing, and are happy to answer questions that people have as long as they are reasonable. If people would like personal advice or help we would rather you contact us directly, but we are happy to help in any way we can.

I think you will find that the majority of people on here will let you know about stuff like vandalism, grafitti, riding bikes on pavements, parking problems etc.

If you can do anything to clear up these problems, you'll be dong a good job. ED is safe although - naturally - crime does happen.

The role of the SNT is to provide a ward based police prescence. We deal with most non urgent crimes such as graffitti and damage to cars. These incidents are reported to police in the normal way and are fed down to us to deal with. We also deal with proactive issues on the ward such as addresses being used to deal or supply drugs. This information is always useful to us, but also if you are a victim of crime it should always be reported so that it at the very least can be used for intelligence purposes

No we are certainly not, as mentioned above they are the council wardens and are employed by Southwark to carryout patrols and deal with such problems as litter and dumped cars. We are teams of one police sergeant and two - four police constables. we are also supported by between 2 and 5 police community support officers who are dressed in blue shirts.

If someone see's someone or something which they believe is suspicious then we would always encourage them to report it. If people wish to give information in confidence then they can always contact crimestoppers via their website http://www.crimestoppers-uk.org/ or call 0800555111 or if you have your local SNT's contact number you can ring them and give them the information

The East Dulwich team were originally looking at coming onto the forum however as a service we are currently on hold from entering new forums until official guidance can be given as to what we can say and do. When this is done i know that sgt Jackson and his team are very eager to join the forum
