I don't think it's wrong or oversentimental to express regret that someone you admire has died, particularly if they've died prematurely, even if you have never met them. You can respect and admire someone you've never met and it's not as if people are demanding national holidays or claiming to be inconsolable, they're just saying "that's sad". It's hardly a sea of flowers at the gates of Kensington palace.

This is a thread for keith floyd. Lets pay him some respect . He was a tremendous presenter and a great character. I always enjoyed his programmes and watching him cook.

Death of famous people is still quite rare and deserve a thread. They soon fall away if noone is interested.

As for a deaths section well noone is going to go there.

It would be more dead than the drawing room.

Id suggest we do less rather than more tampering with the lounge unless we want to deprive it of its range and diversity.

Funnily enough, I was watching "when Keith met Keith last night, which had Keith Allen meeting Floyd. Don't know if it was a hasty addition to the schedule, or if it was meant to be on last night.

Keith Floyd asked Allen if he hated the name Keith.

Allen replied, it's quite cool, you've got Keith Richards, Keith Moon, and yourself. Then you add Cheggers to the mix, and it all goes to shit! (or words to that effect). That is EXACTLY how I've always felt about it!

Anyway, RIP, but not surprising given the way he insisted on living his life, right to the end.

    • Hello - If anybody has any hifi valve amplifiers, working or in need of restoration, I'm keen to buy such things from you! I particularly like amps from the 50s and 60s, the sort of thing you used to find in old sideboards, but ultimately anything with glass tubes sticking out of them is of interest to me. I am also in the market for good quality hifi items in general, particularly faulty items in need of fixing and restoration. This includes turntables, amplifiers, cd players, speakers, graphic EQs, cassette players, reel to reel players, etc. etc. Ultimately, all electronic musical objects are of intrigue to me. Many thanks, and hope to hear from you soon, -Scott 07956 853 538
    • Using the smart CCTV cameras is your best strategy - particularly if they have adequate infra-red capability. Setting them to be triggered by line crossing or areas of intrusion is worthwhile setting up as is linking them to a PIR sensor. The PIR could also be used to activate a sounder but that might upset your other neighbours. I have a few cameras around our property and I enjoy reviewing the recordings and apart from foxes and birds, I catch the occasional opportunistic thief on camera - like this one last Tuesday. If you need any help, please drop me a PM. S7.mp4
